Geek Gear World of Wizardry Wearables Subscription Box Review + Coupon – June 2017

Hello Subscription may earn compensation via links in this post. Read the full disclosure

Geek Gear World of Wizardry, a Harry Potter themed box now offers a new subscription box with only wearable items – the Geek Gear World of Wizardry Wearables!

When you sign up, let them know which house you’re in, and they’ll take care of the rest, delivering a box of magical items to you every month! The items are not authorized or official.

The box has cool house decorations on the outside!

DEAL: Save 10% on your first month! Use coupon code NEWSUB10.

Nice touch at the bottom of the box!

The information book gives you a full list of all the wearables in your box.

I don’t even think this full-color multi-page booklet is necessary because the items really do speak for themselves, but it’s nice to see the variations. A flat card would suffice!

Everything in my box!

FYI – this review was delayed because they originally sent us their regular subscription instead of the wearables. It took weeks for the company to understand what happened – and they also asked that we return the items in order to get a replacement. While we thought the box was weird we honestly didn’t know that it wasn’t the right box until Leah’s review came in of the regular box and it was exactly what we had received! We explained and they replaced the box, but it was a hassle.

Glasses With Lightning Strike Necklace

A cute design with Harry’s glasses and a little bolt of lightning.

The perfect length, too!

Shouldn’t Have Said That Shirt

Shouldn’t have said that! Don’t ask any more questions! The graphic, of course, shows Hagrid’s umbrella/wand.

This subscription has had issues with hiring illustrators that steal the work of other artists. This was lifted from WeAreYawn.

The Order Shirt

Let everyone know you are a proud member of the Order of the Phoenix with this shirt!

Here’s this one from Blair Campbell

Creators of the Map Shirt

The icons for the four Maurader’s Map creators. This one takes a bit more knowledge of the Potterverse to be recognized so you know whomever notices it is going to be a true fan.

Looks like it was lifted from a Hot Topic officially licensed shirt.

Mirror of Desire (Erised) Shirt

What Harry wants most, of course, is his parents.

Didn’t find an original for this one – doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Here’s a clue on what’s coming this July.

There are so many great artists working on Harry Potter inspired works that there’s no reason to hire them to create originals or license existing works, and credit them for their work. I found the originals for 3/4 images in a few minutes of reverse image searching – subscription boxes hiring cheap illustrators would do well to ask for files that demonstrate the entire creation process, rather than just the finished work, to ensure they’re not committing repeat and mass copyright infringement.
