Looking good! I always look forward to this box and enjoy the variety of products they send.

Each box comes with a mini magazine that gives tips on how to use the products, how much the full-sized product costs, and where to purchase, along with discount codes!

Everything in the box! Gone is the redundant brown cardboard box – my glossy red box was wrapped in plastic and my products were snuggled in white paper and shredded squiggles for packing.

Skinfix Facial Cleansing Cloths ($1.50) I love that these are individually wrapped so they are perfect for traveling or placing in a gym bag. It was sort of slow going getting everything off of my eyes and when I used one on my skin it left it kind of irritated. Plus, it didn’t remove all of my makeup, as confirmed with a toner-soaked cotton pad. If you wear a lot of makeup then I would suggest using this as a first step in your cleansing routine.

Ouai Finishing Crème ($3.60) is supposed to tame frizz and give hair a shiny finish. Just rub a dab between your hands and then run it through your hair. It says it protects from heat damage so I am confused – do you use a straight iron after applying? It’s meant to be used on hair that’s already been blown dry so I don’t get it. I spend too much effort to add body and don’t want to weigh it down, therefore I will pass along to one of my girls.

Vichy Minéral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster ($2.95) goes on very smoothly and my skin absorbed it quickly. It is 89% mineral water and also contains hyaluronic acid to draw moisture to the skin. It can be worn alone or layered under your regular moisturizer.

Caudalíe Instant Detox Mask ($6.06) can be used by all skin types and helps detox the pores with betonite clay. I applied a thin layer of this pink creamy mask and let it dry for 10 minutes before rinsing it off in the shower. It left my skin smooth and soft and I didn’t experience any irritation at all.

Hey Honey I Peel Good! Biomimetic Honey Peel Cream ($32.50) Wow, this sample is half of a full sized container! I applied it to my clean, dry face and at first it is a little gooey but then it switches to more of an oil-like consistency. I continued to rub it around for another minute or so before rinsing. I expected my skin to be red and inflamed but nope, it was smooth and soft. I also really liked the scent, which just smells like honey. I have a bit of a thing for honey.

Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black ($21) I have mixed feelings about this pencil but I’m pretty sure you can buy a Covergirl eyeliner for a fraction of the cost and get the same results.

The first thing that happened was that the tip broke off when I swatched it. I wasn’t even pushing that hard.

I managed to swatch a bit more and it was very creamy and smooth. I sharpened it and applied to my eyes and it didn’t tug or pull and was easily smudged for a smokey look (I used an eyeliner brush for smudging). It didn’t stop there though and by the end of the day I had it all under my eyes. It did better on a day where I never left work for the outside heat and humidity. Again, not too bad but not worth the price.

My August Allure Beauty Box had a value of $67.61 which is wonderful, however, I would have liked a better assortment of products since 4 out of 6 items were for my face. Having said that, my favorite products this month were both of the peels, but especially the Hey Honey! I enjoy Allure Beauty Box and like that they include mainstream and indie brands and I look forward to getting it each month!
