The Target Art & Craft Kit is a monthly art & craft subscription for kids ages 6-10. You’ll receive a different pre-packaged crafting activity each month shipped from Target.

Like the previous months, we received a single commercially available craft kit.

The Fairy Garden retails for $19.99 at Target.

TIPS: Use your Target Red Card for a discount. Plus, be sure to subscribe to the kit for an additional 5% off!

Everything in my kit!

We received a flower shaped tray for the garden…

soil…

seeds and beans…

and there’s a sheet with all the instructions.

The information sheet walked us through the process and there wasn’t anything else we needed to know – this kit was a relief after last month’s kit!

There’s a fairy house with a pretty purple bauble and two mushrooms/toadstools.

They were all nicely detailed.

In order to create your fairy landscape you’ll need to paint all the decorations, and we received a pretty pastel paint set and Faber Castell brush.

Plus we received some gemstones, purple colored rocks, and clear glass vase beads.

Final added touches – flowers, butterflies, our fairy, and glitter!

While we have kids in the intended age range for this box (6-10) that wanted to help, our 2 year old would have nothing to do with that – this craft was his and now that his garden is nice and grown he’s still tending to it and playing with it every day. With dad’s help he painted all the decorations.

He really had a blast and he went back over multiple sessions (probably about 4) to keep adding colors. This extended the fun and also allowed for colors not to mix.

He was so happy with himself! He painted the inside and outside of the house as well as the mushrooms. Everything was his own color choice!

We helped him plant the seeds and beans and watered, and after a few days we saw shoots!

It really started to grow, so we decided to add in the main decorations. We gave him a water spritzer so he couldn’t drown the garden.

After the garden was lush and full we added the extras – the flowers, butterflies, purple stones, and sprinkled everything  with glitter!

We were so happy that this month’s project wasn’t so extensive – and it was timed perfectly for the summer too. I might even go so far as to say that we were thankful or relieved it wasn’t complicated – and you shouldn’t have that feeling about a fun kids’ subscription box. We’re still wondering what Target will do with this subscription, so we’ll check it out at least one more month.

Did you grab a Target Art & Craft Kit this month? Let me know what you thought!
