Umai Crate is a monthly subscription box that brings you exclusive Japanese-style noodles every month. The subscription costs $25 per month, and you’ll get 7-8 noodles, plus bonus items like gachapons, collectible chopsticks, and more.

Umai Crate is from the same makers that bring you Japan Crate, Doki Doki Crate, and Kira Kira Crate!

The box is almost the size of a windowsill planter, and it’s packed with yummy noodles!

DEAL: Take $3 off your first crate. Use coupon code HELLO.

This is the May edition of Umai Crate. Every crate includes a colorful booklet with information on that month’s selections and articles about noodle culture!

There are also some fun recipes – this one dresses up the Sakurai Food – Soy Ramen For Vegetarians.

The booklet also has a list of everything in the box, including the bonus item. I like the way each noodle pack description has little IKEA-style pictograms showing the preferred preparation method. It helps us pick which ones to cook at home and which to take with!

The Vernal Equinox is a national holiday in Japan, and the booklet has some suggestions for preparing “Spring Ramen” in celebration of the occasion.

Everything in the May 2017 Umai Crate.

Bonus! Umai Crate Exclusive Chopstick Travel Set. This little kit has everything needed to enjoy a bowl of noodles, where ever your adventures may take you – a small hard-shell plastic case keeps everything together and fits easily into a pocket, purse, or backpack.

You asked, and we found it. One of your top requested bonus items is something to help you enjoy your noodles on the go, and this exclusive travel set is perfect for that. May’s travel set bonus includes collapsable chopsticks & spoon, plus an Umai Crate branded carrying case. We hope you love this bonus item as much as we do!

Each utensil splits in half for storage.

Fujisha Miso Ramen: Yummy ramen noodles in a miso and scallop flavored broth.

The noodles are made of all-vegetable ingredients and the soy in this ramen is non-GMO.

Sakurai Food Soy Ramen for Vegetarians: From the same folks that created last month’s Vege-Cup, this vegetarian ramen delights in providing lots of flavor without using meat to create the broth (or the noodles, for that matter).

This is a great ramen for dressing up with all manner of veggies – the booklet even has a recipe!

Kokubu – Nagasaki Prefecture’s Soy Sauce Flavored Dashi Ramen: Nagasaki-style dashi uses oily fish for extra depth of flavor. This pack features real anchovies.

This ramen may feature an elegant regional variation of traditional dashi, but it is prepared just as easily as any other ramen.

Acecook – Mini Tempura Shrimp Soba – Reduced Salt: These noodles are ideal for “grown-ups.” Healthful buckwheat soba noodles in a reduced-salt sauce.

Flavored with shrimp, this tiny cup is perfectly portioned for a snack or lighter meal.

Mini Maru Soumen: Very thin wheat noodles (Soumen style), traditionally served cold, are great for a warm weather snack.

Mini-sized for snacking, these tiny noodles are bathed in a yuzu-spiked broth.

Kin-Chan Tei Tsuyukake Akajiso Udon: Big, chewy udon noodles in a peculiar broth.

A special seasoning lends a reddish color to the broth.

Itsuki Kumamon Udon: Kumamon makes an encore appearance! Big udon noodles are joined by little tempura pearls for a unique textural treat.

Umai Crate is a must for noodle lovers. We always smile when Umai Crate arrives, because we know we have some warm, yummy lunches in store for us. We love the variety of noodles and sauces in each box – all completely authentic and popular in Japan. The bonus extras are awesome, too, as they are always a useful addition to our ramen-preparation arsenal.
