Owl Crate is a monthly subscription of books and bookish items box. Each OwlCrate contains one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish items all matched to the monthly theme. I’m an avid reader but I do tend to get stuck reading the same authors over and over again. Owl Crate steps me out of my rut and introduces me to some great authors and sends really new books.

June’s OwlCrate theme was Make It Out Alive. OwlCrate always has the best info card prints. One side is a print representing the theme and the other side is the information for the box contents.

DEAL: Use coupon code HELLO15 to save 15% on your first subscription!

Limited time: Use code ALIVE15  to save 15% off your first order!

The information card tells a little bit about all the items in this month’s box along with little comments on why they were selected or other fun tidbits.

Everything in my June Make It Out Alive OwlCrate.

The SandCastle Empire by Kayla Olson ($12.59) – I’m all about a dystopian universe in my TV shows, movies and books so the theme this month was all for me. This sounds like a great book with lots of twists and turns and some not sure who to believe going on.

Before the war, Eden’s life was easy. Then the revolution happened, and everything changed.

Now a powerful group called the Wolfpack controls the earth and its resources. And even though Eden has lost everything to them, she refuses to die by their hands. She knows the coordinates to the only neutral ground left in the world, a place called Sanctuary Island, and she is desperate to escape to its shores.

Eden finally reaches the island and meets others resistant to the Wolves. But the solace is short-lived when one of Eden’s new friends goes missing. Braving the jungle in search of their lost ally, they quickly discover Sanctuary is filled with lethal traps and an enemy they never expected.

This island might be deadlier than the world Eden left behind, but surviving it is the only thing that stands between her and freedom.

The book also came with a signed bookplate, a note from the author, and some stickers.  If you missed the announcement for the next several months at least OwlCrate will come with exclusive covers!  To remind up there is a sticker on the bag that the book and its goodies were in.  Does anyone take this sticker off and put it on the book? I’m undecided about that but maybe on the inside leaf or something like that.

Magnet inspired by An Ember in the Ashes created  by Little Inklings Design – I’ve not read this book but I LOVE this quote. It is going to have to go in my planner and/or scrapbook when I’m doing something outside m comfort zone. I can’t wait. This magnet is really big and very heavy duty. A great quality with a great saying.

Bookmark inspired by  A Court of Thornes and Roses created by Hey Atlas Creative – I love getting bookmarks in my boxes. Since we are all reading so many books have new fun ones all the time is perfect. This is a gorgeous two sided bookmark with not only awesome designs but fantastic quotes.

Divergent inspired bath bomb by Fizzy Fairy Apothecary – I love a good bath bomb and this one inspired by Divergent was scrumptious. It was fun to watch it in the bath and see the camo colors mold together. Each bath bomb has a charm on the inside to sort you into your faction or maybe you will be divergent.

I was sorted into Erudite. The Erudites are the Intelligent.

Archie McPhee Zombie Sleep Mask – I love me a good Zombie and this is hysterical. I actually own another one similar to this one that my boys play with so I opened this one right up for me.

Eeeekkk, I’m not sure what is scarier – the mask or me in the mask.

Patch inspired by The Giver created by Laserbrain Patch Co – I need to come up with a way to display my patches and pins that come in these boxes. This one is nice and thick and would look great displayed. I’m thinking maybe a denim pillow or something like that. What do you guys think?

New World Rising by Jennifer Wilson ($12.99) – A second book this month makes me a happy girl. Well I shouldn’t say happy since we are talking about dystopian books. This one looks intense and is the first book in the New World Series.

Worlds collide in debut author Jennifer Wilson’s graphic dystopian series where Divergent meets Mad Max. Since witnessing her parents’ murders at the age of eleven, Phoenix’s only purpose in life has been to uphold her mother’s dying words – to be strong and survive. But surviving outside of The Walls – outside of The Sanctuary – is more like a drawn-out death sentence. A cruel and ruthless city, Tartarus is run by the Tribes whose motto is simple, “Join or die.”

Refusing to join and determined to live, Phoenix fights to survive in this savage world.

But who can she trust, when no one can be trusted? Not even herself…

The first of a trilogy, New World Rising is an epic tale of survival, instinct, trauma, and the extraordinary power of human connection.

If you are into dystopian and apocalyptic worlds then Owl Crate sent the box for you this month. I love all things about both of those things so I was excited. I’m always happy with a second book in my box so that was an exciting extra for me. I also love bath bombs and the Divergent books (don’t get me started on the movies) so using that and finding my faction was fun. I could see my self in Erudite but really I think everyone is a bit Divergent.
