BeadCrate is a monthly subscription box for bead enthusiasts. Every month you’ll receive a curated collection of beads, findings, and other goodies to enhance your beading creations! There are three box sizes – Hobbyist ($7.99), Enthusiast ($15.99), and Collector ($35) [prices don’t include shipping] to choose from. This is the Enthusiast Crate!

The beads always come neatly packaged inside individual well-labelled plastic bags inside a cute organza bag. We also have a curator’s note explaining the theme. This month, we are going Black to Basics! Also, you can share your creation on their social media (Instagram or Facebook, don’t forget to tag them!) for a chance to get a little surprise in next month’s box.

The crate comes with a chart that tells you exactly what you’re getting.

And everything comes in plastic bag, easy to identify. I love love love the colours this month (I feel like I’m saying that every month, but that’s what you get for having blue beads every month or so!)

12mm Vertical Hole Aquamarine Butterflies. Every month, we get a cute little beads, and this month we received butterflies! In blue! I’ll make a couple of cute simple earrings for my nieces, on of them is obsessed with butterflies!

8x8mm Aquamarine Hearts. I like that they are not too cutesy, so they are easy to incorporate in a design. Once again, I love the colour!

7x6mm Sparkling Diamonds Multi-Mix. The mix of colour is lovely! With some silver spacer beads, it would make a cute and light summer necklace or bracelet!

9mm Flat Squares in Cobalt. Seriously, I think that cobalt blue is definitely my favourite colour ever. It’s rich, deep, and blue! I decided to used them in one of my design because of the colour only. I’m not a big fan of square beads, I feel they never sit right on the skin, but I had to do something with them!

3mm Firepolished Luster Iris Montana Blue Faceted rounds. I love when we get small faceted shiny beads in our box! They are versatile, so easy to use, they add sparks without to much bling. They can be used as spacer beads with big beads, or as accent mixed with seed beads.

4mm Firepolished Matte Jet Faceted Rounds. Simple beads, the colour can fit with any kind of beads. With bigger light beads, it would add a nice contrast, and some sophistication!

6mm Firepolished Jet AB Faceted Rounds. When I first step foot in a bead store, these were the first beads I ever bought. And I never used them. But that changed with this box!

4mm Matte Jet AB Rondelles. I really like the rondelles, and I could see them on a bracelet or on earrings.

4mm Round Matte Montana Blue AB. They are the round version of the rondelles!

Toho 3mm Magatama Opaque Jet. Magatama seed beads have their hole slightly on the side, so you can get some pretty interesting design with them. I’m even less familiar with Magatama beads than seed beads, but I added them to my design to see how it would turn out!

Toho 8/0 Transparent Capri Blue. Am I the only one who see Capri Blue as a nice Green Emerald shade? Yes? Well, it’s a lovely green colour! We always get seed beads in this box, and I wanted to do something with the green ones, even if I’m always afraid of them (I’m clumsy, seed beads are not cooperating with me and I usually quit half way through a design!)

Kiwi’s favourite beads from this month’s box are the Capri Blue Seed Beads. Don’t worry, she didn’t get to keep the ones she stole.

The colours this box was great, and I couldn’t come up with something that would showcase how much I liked all of the beads. So I looked around on instagram and found a quick tutorial BeadCrate did with May’s beads, so I tried my own version. Not as good as there’s, but I had a lot of fun trying, for the first time, a seed bead necklace!

Then, to follow with the Black to Basics theme of this box, I went back to one of my first design when I started playing with wired and ended up with a nice simple bar style necklace using the square beads and the 6mm Faceted Round beads.

In contrast to the light and fresh May’s box, June’s box was all about blues and blacks. I love blues and the mix was lovely as usual. An other great box by BeadCrate!

      Thank you!
Yes, Kiwi looooooves tiny beads. And throwing them off the table! And there’s no stopping her!
