Target May 2017 Bonus Beauty Box Review

Hello Subscription may earn compensation via links in this post. Read the full disclosure

Last week Target released an extra bonus beauty box for May for just $5! Even better, it was available for free with a $20 beauty purchase, plus there was a $5 gift card bonus. The box is no longer available, but you can still purchase the May Target Beauty Box for $7.

This box comes with Target’s favorite beauty picks!

Everything in the May Target Bonus Beauty Box!

L’Oreal Paris Detox & Brighten Pure Clay Mask ($1.96) I wasn’t surprised to find only 1 of the three listed masks in the bonus box – the photo for the box only showed one mask.

This 3-clay+charcoal mask was easy to try out, and it’s really too bad there aren’t more masks to test it out for multi-masking. My nose is in serious need of detox so I tried it out asap. It’s heavily fragranced but has a nice cooling sensation. Hopefully it clears up this looming bump!

Pacifica Coco Pure Facial Cleansing Wipes ($2.33) These 100% vegan cruelty-free wipes are also SLS-, sulfate-, paraben-, and petroleum-free!

I was happy to try out these natural makeup wipes!

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion ($1.19) Totally Different Item Alert! The photo and listing from the bonus box showed Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30. If you were one of the people that paid $5 for the box instead of getting it free with a $20 beauty purchase, I’d definitely complain.  The other was a $4.85 value.

Dove Refresh + Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo ($1.03)

Total value for this beauty bonus was $6.51. Can’t complain too much for free, but the value difference was substantial compared to what was advertised. Although I didn’t particularly care (I used my May box coupon, bought sunscreen I wanted, and got $5 back in a gift certificate), some people may have issues with this item replacement, and ultimately it felt a little bait & switchy. I sent the following in chat to Target:

Hi – I got the bonus beauty box from last week, and one of the items was completely different. The advertised Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 was replaced by the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, which is a big difference in value.

I also sent the chat agent my order number (and noted that the order screen has a picture that showed the other product).  During the course of our chat, which was somewhat confusing because I purchased Aveeno baby sunscreen to get the bonus box, I mentioned the approximate $3.50 value difference, so that’s what they returned to me. I sent the chat agent the link to the original post about the bonus beauty box and link to the picture showing the actual contents.

Your packaging is fancier than mine. My items arrived in a plain box with DVS Brand Connections as the return address. I received the same items as you.
