Orange Glad says this size box will “make 1-2 people happy.” I enlisted my daughters to try these treats so 3 people were made happy this month!
There was an information book inside that contained details about the companies, treats, and best-by dates.
I enjoyed reading about the makers and learning a bit about their companies!
Everything arrived in perfect condition! Well, except for the broken cookies, but I plan on dividing those up anyways.
There were two cookies from Rustic Bakery featured this month.
Chocolate Cacao Nib Shortbread Cookie has “a double chocolate flavor with the Valrhona chocolate and cacao nibs with a tiny bit of salt on the finish.” This was so chocolately and delicious, with crunchy pieces of cacao nibs and salt. If you like dark chocolate you will probably love this!
Pecan Shortbread is a not too sweet and has nice little bits of pecans inside. I used to bake Pecan Sandies myself and these are pretty close to my homemade version, minus the powdered sugar.
McCrea’s Cape Cod Sea Salt Caramels “Sweet caramel with savory flakes of coastal New England sea salt. A walk in the surf.”
I loved the flavor of these very chewy caramels! It has a nice touch of sea salt along with that classic buttery sweet caramel flavor.
I’ve tried Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy in Pomegranate & Nectarine in other snack boxes, and now I have a full-sized tin!
The flavor is much better than a Jolly Rancher and the color comes from fruits and vegetables, not chemicals. These are sweet and tart and a nice little treat when you want something sweet without a ton of calories.
Treat Bake Shop specializes in pecans and does them very well. Only three ingredients are in these Candied Pecans: pecans, sugar, and salt.
I ate these straight outta the bag, but Orange Glad also suggests serving them with white wine, on a salad, or with cheese. I think I would need a bigger bag to do that. One thing that was off-putting: the bag was wrapped in twine that had a strong scent and some of the nuts had a funny taste.
Another sweet box from Orange Glad! I am always excited to see what our country’s talented artisan dessert makers are producing and everything was delicious, fresh, easy to share, and just generally yummy! This is a super box for treating yourself at the end of the day, especially if, like me, you are a hardworking parent who doesn’t always have time to bake and who wants something different than the usual store bought cookies.
