The Men’s Health Box is a new subscription box service curated by the editors of Men’s Health magazine. The box costs $89.99 per quarter, and promises a “kickass box of curated products” worth more than $150.

A dense layer of paper squiggles covers the top of the box. It looks like there may not be much nestled within the paper, but there’s actually tons of stuff underneath.

DEAL:  Get 20% off your Men’s Health Box! Use this link to get the deal.

This quarter is about helping you fast-track your success.

The information card lists everything in the box, giving a brief description and approximate value. The box promises to deliver goods relating to fitness, grooming, fashion, tech, and food/nutrition – little colorful icons show which category each item represents.

This quarter’s box had one tech item and three items relating to each of the other four categories.

Everything in my Men’s Health Box this quarter.

Run Performance Gum in Cinnamon ($2 on card, $1.87 online) & in Mint ($2 on card, $1.87 online): Each pack has two pieces of caffeine-infused energy gum for use before or after any physical activity.

The kick in this gum is provided by caffeine, taurine, and B vitamins.

RXBAR Protein Bar in Mint Chocolate ($3 on card, 4.78), Coconut Chocolate ($3 on card, $4.67), and in Chocolate Sea Salt ($3 on card, $4.11): A 15% discount code for addition bars was also included. I thought it was very cool to include 6 bars instead of just one – it let’s you try out three of their flavors and see how the bar fits in your routine instead of just chowing down and forgetting about it.

The listing on the front of the bar closely approximates the actual and complete contents of the bar, estimated based on weight of each ingredient. Each bar also has some sea salt and natural flavorings. Obviously, there is some peppermint extract, coconut, and cocoa thrown in, too. The bars are moist and chewy, and they have the flavor and texture you would expect from a blend of ground dates and nuts, just with mint, etc, layered on top. Unwrapped, they look shiny, like a Little Debbie Brownie Bar, but they are much more dense.

Rhythm Superfoods Kale Chips ($4 on card, $5.61 on Amazon): As hesitant as I am to hype kale any more than it already is, these are really tasty and deserving of praise.  They are crisp, with a little bit of chew, and the flavor is really nice – a pleasant, garlicky ranch complementing the hearty cruciferous quality of the kale.  They are organic, pack a good deal of protein (6g) for a veggie, and are a little addictive.

BlenderBottle ProStak ($14 on card, $12.99 on Amazon): A blender bottle is always handy to have around. The wire ball works quite well for mixing protein shakes or other powdered drinks. This one has the expected snap-close spout, plus a ring to attach the bottle to a carabiner or strap.

Upon further examination, I discovered what really makes this bottle unique — the stack. Two small screw-top containers can be attached to the bottom of the bottle, letting you keep two extra servings of powder with your bottle, or providing a handy place to stow a halved protein bar or other snack.

I’ve seen a single layered stack bottle made for little kids, but it makes just as much sense for adults.

A discount code was included for follow-on orders.

Dead Soxy Socks ($22): Dress socks with a simple, bold pattern. These are made in the U.S.A.

The blend of materials used to make the socks brings together four synthetic materials for a shrink, slip, and fade-free sock. The texture is soft and smooth without being silky.

These go high up on the leg. They have subtle design features for a better fit – a cuff at the top, a contoured heel pouch, and a slight gathering mid-sole to prevent bunching.

The color is very vibrant, but the pattern is classic.

Pedestal Footwear 2.0 Socks ($25): A second pair of socks! These are slightly different than a dress sock. Pedestal Footwear 2.0 socks are designed to be worn without shoes, giving your feet the greatest amount of flexibility and freedom.

They are heavily contoured – so much so that they stand on their own. high-wear sections of the sock, the toe/ball and heel, are made of a special, friction-resistant fabric.

the bottom is covered with rubbery, grippy triangles to provide traction on any surfaces where you would normally wear sneakers – they are designed to feel like you are barefoot, yet provide the traction of a shoe.

These are meant to be worn to the gym, though I’d make sure to check your facility’s policies, as most require “shoes.” Though the company’s FAQs say that you are no more screwed dropping a weight on your foot wearing these than you would be with sneakers, I’m skeptical. I think these would make great house shoes.

Manready Mercantile Hand Salve in Bergamot Teak ($10): This salve is for tending to dry or chapped hands.

The salve is fragrance lightly with bergamot and teak. The woody quality, a bit dry and cedar-like, comes out more than the orange does.

The base of the salve is a blend of beeswax and several, plant-based oils. There are no chemicals or irritants to worry about here.

Duke Cannon Solid Cologne ($25): Pitched as a solution to the problem of packing liquid cologne on a plane, this solid cologne balm is easy to pack and use – it melts on your fingertip and can be dabbed anywhere.

It has a pleasant, not overly greasy texture and fresh scent. This particular fragrance is a bit in the deodorant/air freshener bent, with a not-found-in-nature laundry sheet freshness.

The “Mountain Rain” fragrance is OK, but the remaining ingredients are impressively natural, with the majority being organic.

Duke Cannon Big American Bar of Soap ($9): I was super-psyched to see this! My last bar of Duke Cannon soap lasted for months! That one was black and left a visible, dark residue in the shower stall, so this white bar promises less mess.

The Duke Cannon brand plays up its manliness.

The company is deeply involved with the military from the standpoint of its history, product development, and charitable work.

The bar is definitely man-sized – its about the size of a stack of six iPhone 6s’. Some bits of steel-cut oatmeal are mixed in to add some grip (good thing, too, since this thing hurts if you drop it on your foot). The scent is a bright, clean peppermint.

Wurkin Stiffs Knot Cuff Links ($10): These handsome cufflinks are made of wound black and silver/white cords. The links themselves are awesome, but they were a bit of a hassle to get out of the bottle!

The design is cool and not too flashy. They would work with any dark, really light, or colorful suit or shirt, though they may be odd with creamy earth tones. Either side can be used as the “out” side (now if I only had some French cuffs).

Squareguard + Pocket Square ($30): This innovative product is essentially a frame that fits in your breast pocket and keeps your pocket square in place and presentable.

You simply weave a handkerchief or pocket square through the guard and stick it in your pocket.

The SquareGuard comes with a silky white pocket square that has a purple liner with an ombré effect.

The guard has three slots through which to weave your square.

The inside has a guide showing how to prepare three looks using the guard, plus a discount code.

Here is the classic “puff.”

iMergency Stick-On Rechargeable Battery Pack ($20): This handy battery pack comes pre-charged and can power a phone for over 7 hours.

It includes adapters to fit both iOS and Android devices.

Blank labels are included so you can mark the back with the date of last charge, etc.

Sling Shot Grippy Hip Circle ($25): This strap is designed to engage your hip flexors, warming you up for lifting and training your body for more sound hip and knee positioning during workouts.

Your slide the stretchy band up to just above your knees and perform your monster walks, squats, etc. to engage and warm up the hips.

The incredibly strong rubberized core is covered with a weave of durable thread so it doesn’t grip and pinch your skin.

This subscription offers a huge haul every quarter! It is like getting several of the other men’s styling boxes, plus a fitness box, tech item, and snack all in one! The value of this quarter’s box wasn’t as sky high as some past boxes (last quarter had a list price of $350.99!), but it still had over $210 in stuff! If you enjoy the various kinds of men’s boxes (fitness, fashion, grooming), Men’s Health is a great way to get a a bit of everything at a great value.
