Gwynnie Bee is a clothing rental subscription service. My body shape makes me a perfect candidate, as they specialize in sizes 10-32, and I am a 14-16 (and sometimes 18, depending on the cut). When I started, I added about 25 items to my closet (it’s a lot like creating a Netflix queue back when DVD subscriptions were their main business model, except there is no specific order) and they sent me the first three that were available. They now have a feature that lets you prioritize items, so I have some control over which items are more likely to show up. Then, when I return items, they send more!

I really like that I have a lot of control – I pick the specific items that are in my closet. I can go outside my comfort zone if I feel like it, or I can stay well within it. Overall, I put several items that would be a stretch for me in my closet, but also put plenty of items I think I will like so that any given shipment is likely to have something in it that I will wear.

Gwynnie Bee has really upped their packaging game recently, too. New purple branded boxes with happy, affirming messages!

packaging-update

I am always excited to see my Gwynnie Bee box in the mail. It has been a great way for me to keep my work wardrobe interesting. I am back on the road a lot, so I am focused on packable dresses. I have been in 50-70 degree weather, so nothing super wintery is needed, but it isn’t quite summertime, either.

Leota Sweetheart Dress In Midnight Moon, Size 2L

This dress is great for the spring – a nice medium weight stretchy material with lots of give. The faux wrap is flattering, though, I couldn’t quite fill out the bust. This dress is definitely for someone with a significant chest. I wear a 36G, so it isn’t like I can’t fill out a dress. I appreciate that the length is age appropriate, work appropriate. Gwynniee Bee has a LOT of dresses, but many are clearly for fun, and are just too short for a tall girl like me (I am 5’10”).

And now for a pop of color!

No, really, The color is this awesome.
Tocca V-neck Sheath Dress In Tyrian Purple Size 14
I loooove this dress. Love. It’s by the same designer as the grey dress I have had at home (see last month’s review!) for over a month now. I have already worn it on two work trips, and I don’t want to let it go. The good news is, you can keep Gwynnie Bee dresses as long as you want. It just means other items stay in your closet.
When I was a kid, I had a set of water color pencils, and my favorite was a pinky purple called Heliotrope. For some reason that has stuck with me. This dress is totally heliotrope. I Googled it. I feel better – I am not crazy. It’s a flower color!
Jessica Howard Belted Polka Dot Fit & Flare Dress Size 14W
This dress isn’t anything special, but it is cute, and it gave me an excuse to wear my green cardigan. It’s stretchy and shaped slightly, but it really needs a belt. The image (and the name) indicate there is a green belt, but alas, it didn’t show up with a belt. I found a neutral metallic belt and just went with it.
Overall this month was great. All three dresses were usable for when I am traveling and dealing with clients, and the purple (heliotrope!) dress is one of my favorite things I have received. I suspect I am going to wear it several times before letting it go.
A couple things to remember (besides free laundry!):
  • you can mark your shipment as outgoing so your items ship out faster
  • you can purchase items that you love at huge discounts
  • use the community at Gwynnie Bee to help you select the best items for your body and the right size for that garment.
  • all the garments are inspected and I’ve never really had an issue with anything I’ve received in terms of condition.
  • it’s also worth a mention that the clothes are higher end clothes, so they all have better construction and fabric than what you might normally purchase for yourself.
  • Gwynnie Bee Cost:
    • 1 item/ $49 per month

You are truly the first model I have seen who makes these look so amazing. All three dresses are great! I don’t know if you have great proportions (probably), great taste, or both!

You’re very kind! I think I have gotten pretty good at knowing which designers fit me well, so that helps. Being tall generally helps too, although it can narrow down which dresses are a work appropriate length!

Thanks! I thought that outfit came together well. I have had those boots forever (they were my first “big girl $$” boots), but they don’t get used much these days. Heels!
