Glowing Beets is a monthly natural beauty subscription box. In each box, you’ll receive 3-4 deluxe-sized samples or full-size beauty products made with natural ingredients and no harmful chemicals or toxic stuff. You’ll be able to test out the scent, texture, and performance of high-end natural beauty products before committing to full size. This subscription is $29.95 a month plus $5.99 for shipping.

My items were shipped in a brown cardboard box and had shredded paper for cushioning.

The two-sided information card gave details of each item along with the retail value.

The May Box had a “Summer Fun” theme!

Boho Chic Cosmetics Macarons Lip & Cheek Tint Collection ($7.50)

These little samples had a cute floral Eiffel tower on each one.

Many of the ingredients used are certified organic and/or non-GMO and everything is vegan & cruelty free!

Now, I see that these precious balms are aptly named! The samples seemed very small, but the balms were a lot harder than I expected (except for the one in the upper left, which was softer), and they’re going to last a really long time. The colors are sheer and sweet, like a bundle of sorbets! They’re all swatched below the next item.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics All Natural Tinted Shimmer Balm SPF 10 ($10) This shimmer balm has an SPF of 10 with a subtle pink shimmer that’s perfect for layering over another balm or lipstick for a touch of all-natural protection in the sun. The ingredients are organic and non-GMO.

The top swatch is the shimmer balm and the rest are the lip balms in alphabetical order.

Gypsy Soul Organics Aroma Therapy Energize Spray ($19.99) All subscribers received the scent “Nephew River,” which is a blend of lemon, grapefruit, lime and basil. This fragrance spray smelled most strongly to me of natural basil with a touch of sharp citrus. I thought this product was pretty pricey for 2 ounces – I’m used to seeing that value on a 4 ounce spray made with all natural essential oils. There isn’t an ingredient list that actually shows which essential oils are organic, just a listing on the website of the scents, and I finally found an about page that says “100% natural plant-based aromatherapy home & beauty products.” But I would like to see an actual list indicating which ingredients are organic.

A promo code was included for your next order.

Jersey Kids Mineral Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 ($10) This stick sunscreen is exactly like Jersey Shore Cosmetics’ anti-aging stick, except it includes orange essential oil and vanilla. I love the scent and the fact that it’s non-nano zinc oxide!

Pleni Naturals Apple + Broccoli Hair and Body Wash ($16.99) This sulfate-free hair & body wash is made with broccoli seed oil and an apple-based cleansing agent. It’s very thin, like water, with virtually no viscosity.

It’s also suitable for babies and kids with sensitive skin – or anyone with sensitive skin. I just washed my hair with it, and it was pretty drying by itself, so it’s going to be impossible to report on results, because I had to follow with a leave-in conditioner. It smells like orange and vanilla like the sunscreen, but definitely wasn’t my favorite.

This was an interesting box from Glowing Beets, with some fun color, a little shimmer, and some fruity fun.  If you’re a mom, you’d probably do what I did and dutifully use the products designed for children on your children. All other subscribers probably happily enjoyed the orange and vanilla goodies without any mom guilt, but it’s worth noting that this is an excellent box to share with a tween or teen – my daughter has already tried swiping all the lip products in this box, which are super cute and fun.
