The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins ($7.48)

EVERY DAY THE SAME Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.UNTIL TODAY
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

After seeing previews for the movie, I decided I wasn’t going to watch the movie but I would read the book. I couldn’t put it down until I was done… Paula Hawkins is a mastermind of psychological thrillers. I’m so glad I read the book and made the characters my own instead of letting Hollywood tell me what they looked like. I am also looking forward to reading the newest novel from this author. I will say my mother is super excited to take this novel off my hands.

The Promise by Robert Crais ($8.99)

Elvis Cole and Joe Pike keep their promises. Even if it could get them killed…

Elvis Cole is hired to find a woman who’s disappeared, a seemingly ordinary case, until he learns the missing woman is an explosives expert and worked for a Defense Department contractor. Meanwhile, LAPD K-9 Officer Scott James and his patrol dog, Maggie, track a fugitive to a house filled with explosives—and a dead body. As the two cases intertwine, they all find themselves up against shadowy arms dealers and corrupt officials, and the very woman they promised to save may be the cause of their own deaths.

Two crimes that are intertwined and a four legged side kick, I am in crime solving heaven. I’m pretty excited to start a new book from an author I’ve never read before.

BookCase.Club is such a fun subscription. I love getting books that are a little older but new to me. There is nothing better than meeting new characters and new authors. I also think it’s great that so many authors are showcased and I have not seen one repeated since I started receiving this box. The price of this subscription makes me want to get each genre because it’s cheaper than going to the book store and saves more time than scouring the library shelves.

Have you tried any of the BookCase.Club subscriptions?
