Universal Yums is a monthly international snack subscription box. Every month you’ll take a trip to a new country and munch on brand new exciting snacks. This month they are taking us to Italy! There are two sizes of box, the Yum ($13) and the Yum Yum ($25). This is the Yum Yum box, and it’s a fun subscription that we get a kick out of each and every month.

This month we were treated to yums from Israel.

When you take away the topper you can see the goodies and the informational book for the box. I love how there are always such great sample sizes in this box and they are neatly packed.

This month’s introductory welcomes us back to Israel.

And of course, there is an in-depth description and background on all the items in the box. It has a handy ingredient/potential allergen breakdown on it, and lots of details on the snacks.

The back of the booklet gives us a clue for the next month. Think it over and I’ll share where it is at the bottom of the post.

Everything that came in the Israel box. Lots of bigger bags in the box this month.

Elite Chocolate Bar with Popping Candies – Chocolate bar!!! I really can’t say enough about that and you can’t go wrong with me. I’m not a huge chocolate fan as in I don’t eat it non-stop all day I do love to have a good one every once in awhile and this fits the bill. I liked the bit of pop in it but my youngest though it was weird. I guess I need to expand his chocolate pallet.

Bissli Remix – This was not my favorite but my hubby ate them up. They reminded me of like a Bugle and just aren’t my think. They are crunchy but just a bit blah for me.

Chocolate Geit – My boys went right for these chocolate coins. Jewish children are given these during Hanakkah but my boys associate them more with playing pirate and I got some “arghhs” when they were digging in.

Bamba Spinz – 90% of households in Israel buy these peanut butter covered corn puffs. Not my thing but my hubby downed them in a heart beat.

Abadi Falafel Mini Bagels – I love some falafel and this was a fun take on it.

Elite Mekupelet – The creation of these chocolate bars is kept a mystery by the Elite company. Elite is like the Hershey of Israel and if you say the name everyone will know what you are talking about.

Gesher Snowflakes – Labeled as Kosher since over 85% of Israelis eat a Kosher diet. Packages in Israel will be labeled as Kosher and/or parve so that people will now if they can enjoy it and how they can use it with other items.

Vanilla & Walnut Achva Halva – I’m not a walnut fan and therefore couldn’t get through these. My husband liked them ok but not something he was going to want a lot of.

Klik Kariot Pillows – Chocolate coated cereals with a chocolate filling is the perfect pop in your mouth snack.

Challah Bread Marzipan – Challah bread is a Shabbat staple and this little marzipan is a reflection of that.

Meyer bakery Everything Bagel Chips – Yes please, I’ll take more of these. I’m an everything bagel type of girl and I loved these. Universal Yums included these to kindof represent the hot pretzels that are a big part of Israel and usually have salt, sesame seeds and a green spice called zaatar. This is the Universal Yums take.

Taami Bar – More chocolate. They say this is a mix of a Snickers, Milky Way and Crunch bar had a baby and I would agree with that. It had a bit of all three when you took a bite.

Toy Dreidel Bonus Item – While we might all think of a dreidel for March they say it is never a bad time for fun and you can play any time of the year. They even included some rules and fun things to try out.

There was a lot of chocolate in the Universal Yums box this month and that worked for me. This is a great box for us to get to try things from other countries but it is also a great jumping off point for conversations with my boys. We all like trying to guess what something is going to taste like before we dig in and give it a whirl. My one son is a bit more adventurous than the other and, of course, my hubby will try anything so the adventure each month is so much fun.

Did you think about the clue above? Can you guess which country is featured next? Clue: April may bring showers, but that won’t be all it brings – There’ll be macaroons and Mozart balls and other tasty things! When these Yums arrive next month. we think that you should hide them, maybe or else they’ll vanish faster then you can say “hast la vista, baby!”

Next month they are taking us to where the hills are alive in Austria!

Have you tried Universal Yums? What do you think?

I loved the falafel “mini bagels.” Wasn’t sure what to expect, but they were very tasty. And the onion snowflakes were good, too. I haven’t finished everything – been sick a good bit lately – but I do enjoy the variety in these boxes.
