Nomadik is a subscription box for outdoor enthusiasts. Each monthly box includes functional gear designed to increase your fun in the outdoors. All products have been trail tested by an outdoor adventurer and often incorporate new technologies. Every box has one large, featured product, between one and three smaller products, and one or two inspirational items to get you outdoors.

The theme for February 2017 is ‘Dawn Til Dusk.’

Everything in my box!

Parks Project Park Watcher Beanie ($26): This comfy knit hat does more than just keep your head warm – every purchase supports the Parks Project, a group dedicated to maintaining our national parks through trail repair, clean-up crews, and invasive plant removal efforts. Made in the U.S.A., this hat sports a Parks Project label, letting trailmates know that you use your purchasing power for a good cause.

The hat itself is very comfortable. It is not overly shaggy, and the yarn-type thread maintains a relatively smooth feel. It is mid-weight, and the sizing is just right – it avoids the slouch and droop of a toque, yet it provides the full-ear coverage a beanie does not. This is a great heat-regulator for early-morning starts or overnights.

Ritual Caffeinated Energy Snack ($4.50) These little caffeine-infused bars came with a little cloth pouch, sticker, and code for 30% a resupply order. Each bar has caffeine equivalent to a cup of coffee, and they are tiny enough (about 1/4 the size of a smallish energy bar) that they won’t weigh you down. Good a quick pick-me-up and a life-saver for the coffee-dependent who failed to pack their French press.

NiteIze S-Biner ($2.59):  This extremely handy S-shaped hook has two opposite-facing carabiner style gated enclosures.  Palm-sized, it’s small enough to use as a key ring or similar use, but its 25 lb capacity allows it to hang all manner of gear from packs or any hook, rod, or loop.

Mizu Collapsible Shot Glass ($11): About the diameter of a golf ball, this collapsible shot glass comes with a snap-on lid for storage and stows easily in pack or pocket.

Expanded, it is big enough to hold a whopping shot or your favorite potable, should you be motivated enough to lug a bottle along with you.  It’s large enough to serve as a small (cold) beverage cup, too – thought it collapses easily enough that it must be handled relatively gingerly.

Nomadik is a really fun box for anyone who enjoys casual or frequent hiking, tent camping, animal tracking and just hanging out in the outdoors. I love the way the box works in new tech and gear without abandoning its reverence for the purity of the outdoors experience. It makes a great gear update for constant adventurers and a fun motivational kit for those who get out less often.
