The GlobeIn Artisan Gift Box is a subscription that sends 4-5 handcrafted products from around the world. All items are produced either by collectives that are fair trade certified or that respect and adhere to fair trade principles. All artisans and farmers whose products are distributed by Globe In are paid a fair wage for their products.

Subscriptions cost $40 per month, but the price can go as low as $35 with a longer subscription. For those who would prefer to receive one handmade product each month, GlobeIn also operates the GlobeIn Club which costs $10 each month.

GlobeIn is committed to empowering artisans around the world. With each shipment, you’ll get to learn about the artisans and communities your purchase has helped to support.

DEAL: Save $10 on a 3-month subscription with coupon code WELCOME.

The theme for this box is Sustain. Artisan Box subscribers have a selection of themes from which to choose. This way, artisans will be able to meet GlobeIn’s needs while also having longer, steady work as they continue to produce items for the Artisan Box.

Along with all of the lovely items in the box, the Artisan Box includes a booklet that gives details about each of the artists responsible for the items in the box.

Everything in my box!

Matrboomie Upcycled Bell – India ($12) This upcycled bell is made in India from recycled metal. The bells are coated in brass and copper to get that gorgeous finish and then they’re tuned to create a beaitufl sound.

The bell comes with a braided yarn rope – I think it would be pretty to hang at a threshold. Because the card noted that lead might be present, it’s important to keep it away from children.

Here’s how it looks hanging up.

About the artisans: the bell is made by an artisan community in the desert region of Kutch, India. It funds community development.

Dhaka Handicrafts Kaisa Basket Bowl – Bangladesh ($14) This bowl is gorgeous! It’s made in Bangladesh from kaisa, a wild rivergrass that’s sustainably harvested.

The bowl is 9″ at it’s widest point, and 7.5″ at the opening. The booklet suggests filling it with a potted plant, but I think it would be great to hold fruit too.

About the artisan: rural Bangladeshis work with Dhaka Handicrafts to produce the baskets and are paid fairly for their crafts, as well as provided a savings plan to help plan for the future.

Recycled Glass Tumbler – Palestinian Territories ($30) Wow! I love the colors on this glass, which is made from recycled materials. The swirls of color are added in to create beautiful designs.

You can see the mark from firing the glass at the bottom. The glasses are lead-free and kitchen-safe. This is a neat way to keep this traditional art form alive.

About the artisan: Hebron Glass collectes recycled bottles and then creates new, beautiful pieces from them!

Urban Green Makers Air Plant – Japan ($7) And finally, a cute little airplant!

About the company: even though an artisan didn’t make this item, Urban Green Maker partners with environmental organizations that encourage replanting and conservation in developing areas.

Airplants just need a good soak about once a week – they’re low maintenance and can be used as decor!

GlobeIn Greeting Card ($3) This is is a great quote, and you can use this 4×6 flat card as a print, too!

There was also a card included in the box for Soko, which produces innovative, ethical jewelry and accessories from sustainable materials in Nairobi, Kenya.

I always enjoy GlobeIn’s Artisan gift box! It’s full of unique, creative finds that ultimately bring a lot of awareness to communities in need and assist in providing sustainable development to emerging economies. I think it’s a great way to exercise your conscious buying dollars. The total value of this month’s box was about $63 – and my favorite item is the basket! I’m still deciding what to put in it!
