Universal Yums is a monthly international snack subscription box. Every month you’ll take a trip to a new country and munch on brand new exciting snacks. This month they are taking us to Italy! There are two sizes of box, the Yum ($13) and the Yum Yum ($25). This is the Yum Yum box, and it’s a fun subscription that we get a kick out of each and every month.

This month we were treated to yums from Italy. This month the topper was the same cover they started sending last month just with this month’s Italian flag on it.

When you take away the topper you can see the goodies and the informational book for the box. I love how there are always such great sample sizes in this box and they are neatly packed.

This month’s introductory welcomes us to Valentine’s Day and all the great Italian treats.

And of course, there is an in-depth description and background on all the items in the box. It has a handy ingredient/potential allergen breakdown on it, and lots of details on the snacks.

The back of the booklet gives us a clue for the next month. Think it over and I’ll share where it is at the bottom of the post.

Everything that came in my February box. All of the smaller snacks were sealed in a bag inside the box to keep them from getting jumbled around in shipping. A great way to keep them safe and delicious.

Amica Lemon Chips – Potato Chips are my downfall and while I’ve never had a lemon flavored one, I was in for giving it a try and I wasn’t disappointed. These are good and could be a favorite if I could get them around here.

Amaretti di Saronna Lazzaroni Cookies – There is such a great love story to go along with these and they always come in packs of two to symbolize the young couple, in love and nestled together. How sweet is that and the candies are sweet as well. My hubby really liked them.

Anise Candy – Hmm, these were interesting and tasted like an after dinner mint which is also what they look like to me. These are an old candy that is said to alleviate headaches, aid digestion, and even reduce flatulence. LOL. While Universal Yums doesn’t know about all those claims, I’m setting the rest aside when I need a little something after dinner.

Amica Cheese and Pepper Balls – I thought these were another potato chip but nope they are more of a cheese puff and again I’m a bit obsessed with them. They did have a bit much of a cheese flavor for me but I still downed the bag easy enough.

Monardo Gianduiotto Chocolates – Chocolate is always welcome in these boxes. While I’m not the biggest chocolate eater these are really good and they still use the same recipe they have forever. Why mess with something so good!

Cantuccini (Biscotti) – I’m not a big biscotti person and these looked and tasted like others that I’ve had. Nothing wrong with it but nothing overly exciting either.

Terre di Puglia Coffeeralli – Nope, not happening. I do not like coffee. Well, I don’t mind the smell of it but I don’t drink it or like the flavor. I’ll be passing these along to my mother-in-law who loves coffee. She will like them I’m sure.

Gran Art Rosemary Stuzzichina Toscano – Yummy yummy crackers. My only problem was the package is a bit too small. My son and I downed it quickly.

Cabrioni Wafers all Nocciola – If you like Nutella you will like these. I’m not the biggest fan but I these are ok and if I was a big fan then I would have loved them.

Zaghis il Tiramisu – Another coffee type item I won’t be trying. I’m not a tiramisu fan so another item I’m passing along to my mother-in-law.

Laurjeri Orange Froletti Cookies – Sweet little cookies and a nice treat at the end of an afternoon.

Monardo Chocolate Pralines – Not sure I can do these either with the pralines. Just not feeling it or the flavors but my hubby had some and popped them right in and said they were a chocolaty good treat.

Universal Yums is a great box not only in that we get to try goodies from around the world but it leads discussions on how other countries live and where they are and what they like. This box had some items that just weren’t for me but I always know someone who will love them and I pass them on easily. My boys think its funny to try and sample things and try and say the names of them as we are going through them. They come up with the funniest sayings when trying to read the names.  It is all in good fun and we are able to look up and learn some as we are snacking which is always a welcome change.

Did you think about the clue above? Can you guess which country is featured next? Clue: Here you can ride a camel in the desert, or you can float in the sea, You can pray in a church, mosque, or synagogue — whichever strikes your fancy! Oh, and how could we forget?! You can also eat, and eat, and eat… Next month: peanut puffs, halva, and a bread that’s super sweet!

Next month they are taking us to Israel!

Have you tried Universal Yums? What do you think?
