HungerFree Quarterly is a World Vision initiative in partnership with UN’s World Food Programme. Each box is themed and stocked with recipes, stories, and handmade artisan products that equip you to host an experience centered around food and community. The best part? $20 from each box helps support an innovative economic project which empowers artisans and craftsmen/women in Kenya. Every box will include recipes, handmade items and an exclusive magazine to learn more about modern Hunger. Each quarter box is $53.99 CAD with $10 shipping. At the moment, this box is limited and is only available in Canada.

I love how happy looking is this info card!

This looks amazing!

This box is about Celebrating and gathering people to join in. There’s information about how to host the greatest dinner party ever, ideas for “Table talks”, stories behind “Ubuntu Made” (one of the company featured in the box), and so on.

I love this page!

This is a magazine you can leave on the table to get people talking, or thinking!

Mango Patch – Table Runner. This is custom made item for this box, and complements the tea towel from the first box. Screen printed and sewn with sustainable materials, Mango Patch hires women and gives them fair wages, medical support and even child care. This is a lovely table runner. It’s simple, sturdy, and can fit with a lot of different design.

Banana Box – Gourd Candles and Wooden Salad Spoons. How cute are the gourd candle holders! They are hand carved from reclaimed Kenyan gourd by Kenyan artisans. The wooden spoon (I love the handles!) are carved from wood, and hand polished reclaimed cow bones that would otherwise go to waste. Banana Box hires skilled Kenyan artisans to create these products, and more, while helping lift them and their communities out of poverty.

Ubuntu Made – Canvas Coasters. I can never have enough coasters to protect all my furniture surfaces, and these are lovely! These are exclusive to HungerFree box and each set helps support women and children with disabilities in Maai-Mahiu, Kenya.

Each set is signed by the Ubuntu artisan who made it. Thanks Alice N.!

OneTouch Live – Postcards (4). I don’t know if we get different set of postcards, but I really enjoyed mine! OneTouch Live is a photography collective that tells the story of Kenya from a Kenyan perspective.

Recipes (5) – Aimée Wimbush Bourque. This month’s recipes are by food blogger Aimée Wimbush- Bourque. All the recipes look yummy, and I can wait to try them out (I’m looking at you Roasted Vegetable Spaghetti)!

HungerFree Quarterly is a great and lovely box that features handmade items made by Kenyan artisans. I love love love that a box themed around and celebrating food is also helping people fight hunger by helping helping communities to get empowered and to lift them out of poverty. We are a family who will find any excuse to gather around a good meal, so this box is extra-special for us! Nothing in this box will go to waste and we loved everything about it! My husband’s favourite item were the salad spoon, especially the hand carved, polished reclaimed cow bones!

This is the volume 2 of this subscription, shipping in March. The next box will ship in June and all previous box can still be bought on the HungerFree Quarterly website.
