And, when you go to choose your box, there aren’t just one or two alternatives. This month, there were 22 boxes that subscribers could choose from!!! And, they all look awesome. We received the Fondue Party themed box for review.

Here is the recipe booklet. Oh the beautiful cheese!!!

The first page of the recipe book is a note from Hamptons Lane introducing the box and all of the exciting things in it.

Then there is a page about the companies and people who produced the box’s products. I loved reading the blurbs about the mom and pop companies.

There is also a detailed product description of every item in the box and how to use it.

There is eight recipes in the book (some of them have several different dips included).  These two recipes look fabulous.  The top recipe uses a spice that was included in the box, Poudre Forte spice.

I am excited to try this Spicy Pizza Fondue recipe. It also uses the Poudre Forte.

You had me at cheese. Isn’t cheese what fondue is really all about. Delicious, gooey, yummy cheese.

Of course, a Fondue Box has to include a fondue pot. This Fondue Set with Forks by Imusa ($24.99) was a beautiful choice. It has an exciting modern look.

“This beautiful 11-piece fondue set is perfect for entertaining as well as creating an intimate and enjoyable dining experience for everyone at the table. There are no limits on what you can do with it! The carbon steel metal keeps the temperature high enough to cook meats and vegetables in hot oil or broth while the adjustable burner makes melting cheeses and chocolates a cinch. Comes with 6 forks with multicolored tips.”

The pot has a metal tray that it sets on to protect the surface underneath.

They can’t ship the fuel required, so I added it to the grocery list.

There was another instruction/recipe booklet included with the fondue pot.

This page had detailed instructions on how to set up and use your fondue pot. There were two more recipes in the back.

Poudre Forte, World Spice Merchants ($4.50) – “We love when we come across a spice that can be used in both sweet and savory cooking! The poudre forte is a spice mix that was used throughout|medieval Europe and is still used today by culinary recreationists. The actual components may vary, but poudre forte, or “strong powder,” is commonly based on cinnamon, clove and black pepper – some of the most important tender of the early spice trade.  This version from World Spice Merchants has added GRAINS of PARADISE to enhance the flavor. A sweetly aromatic blend with a good bite, poudre forte can be used liberally in both sweet and savory dishes.”

This spice is used in several of the recipes in the Hamptons Lane recipe book. It smells like a hot tea that my mom always makes at Christmas. Delicious!

Butterscotch Chips, Nuts.com – “Classic butterscotch flavor in bite size chips are perfect for melting into fondue! These buttery golden drops are delicious on their own, but also work well in adding sweetness and depth to dark chocolate! Moreover, they’re great to mix into ice cream, cookies, baked goods, and yogurt.”

We tried out one of the recipes for chocolate fondue that used these, “Salted Chocolate Butterscotch Fondue” and it was wonderful! Check out the pictures further down.

Tomato ‘Nduja, City Saucery, Brooklyn ($7.50) – “We have been huge fans of this umami filled spread since we tried it! Inspired by ‘nduja, a traditional spicy pork spread from Nonna’s native Calabri, Italy; this meatless version is a delicious combination of sweet sun-dried tomatoes, and fiery hot habanero peppers (grown by City Saucery!). It’s a thick paste that will add heat, flavor, and umami to any dish. A little bit goes a very long way! Use it to marinate meats, create dips, or use as a base to build more complex sauces. This one is a kitchen wonder!”

I haven’t used this in a recipe yet, but I did taste a teeny bit. The flavor is fantastic! It’s mildly warm with a smoky flavor that reminds me of good pepperoni, but without the meat. It would be a lovely addition to spaghetti, chili or tacos, just to name a few.

We tried the Salted Chocolate Butterscotch Fondue from the recipe book. First, you put chocolate chips in the fondue pot and then you add hot whipping cream to melt them.

While you wait for the hot cream to melt the chocolate you can prepare whatever you want to dip into your fondue.  Strawberries in this case.

After the chocolate melts you add the butterscotch chips and stir until completely melted.

When everything is melted and mixed well you sprinkle a little sea salt on the top and let the party begin!

This Hamptons Lane box is a party waiting to happen. I had actually never tried fondue before! I loved it and the experience really brought the family together. Everyone was laughing and dipping and eating. I was great fun. I highly recommend this box and the fun that goes along with it!
