Culture Carton is the subscription box for the man that wants to be THE MAN that impacts the world and not an everyday man. A book that belongs in every man’s library and carefully selected lifestyle items are included in the box. Become a cultured man and know that knowledge is power, dress for success, and always be a gentleman.
.
This looks cool! It reminds me of the Sanctum Sanctorum from Dr. Strange. Culture Carton’s slogan is a great way to live. I am hoping that the box helps prepare me for the expectations that people have as I graduate high school and assume more adult responsibilities.
I never thought of Apollo, who is jacked (!), as being a god of culture. It makes sense!
Here are the items in the February Culture Carton. Everything matched the Kotinos, the ancient Greek Olive Wreath given to the winner of the ancient Olympics.
The United By Blue Ragg Wool Beanie ($28.00) isn’t quite a Kotinos but will do in keeping me warm in the winter. It was a little tight on my head, but not itchy. It also wasn’t too long which I liked.
I’m a bit scruffy in this picture. I do like how the wool beanie looks with my jacket. It’s made in Philadelphia, home to the Liberty Bell!
The Field Notes Graph Paper Memo Books ($9.95) are proudly made in the USA. Culture Carton used Field Notes to create the box!
I am always writing stuff down, all the time!
I have three notebooks to scribble down my ideas. Now if only I had a pen.
Wait! I do! I have a Varsity Pilot Pen ($3.68). It’s a fountain pen without all the work.
I was surprised that it felt like a normal pen.
The black ink looks sophisticated.
I’m ready to write my way into history with my nouveau fountain pain.
Kudos to Culture Carton for selecting a book that fits their theme and has a Kotinos on the cover. I started to read the The Obstacle is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph by Ryan Holiday (RV $24.95, Amazon price is $14.20). Amazon’s description is
Its many fans include a former governor and movie star (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a hip hop icon (LL Cool J), an Irish tennis pro (James McGee), an NBC sportscaster (Michele Tafoya), and the coaches and players of winning teams like the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Cubs, and University of Texas men’s basketball team.
The book draws its inspiration from stoicism, the ancient Greek philosophy of enduring pain or adversity with perseverance and resilience. Stoics focus on the things they can control, let go of everything else, and turn every new obstacle into an opportunity to get better, stronger, tougher. As Marcus Aurelius put it nearly 2000 years ago: “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
Ryan Holiday shows us how some of the most successful people in history—from John D. Rockefeller to Amelia Earhart to Ulysses S. Grant to Steve Jobs—have applied stoicism to overcome difficult or even impossible situations. Their embrace of these principles ultimately mattered more than their natural intelligence, talents, or luck.
If you’re feeling frustrated, demoralized, or stuck in a rut, this book can help you turn your problems into your biggest advantages. And along the way it will inspire you with dozens of true stories of the greats from every age and era.
My internship is becoming a great opportunity. I hope that this book will help me out.
I’m excited about graduating high school and moving forward in my life. Culture Carton is going to help me do it. I like that they included items made in the USA because I think people forget that we still make quality items. I can’t wait to finish reading the book. I want to be a MAN that impacts the world and feel that I am on my way!

I had no idea what to get my brother for Christmas when I came across this. I liked the concept and thought it might be perfect for a guy like him in his early 30s. So I signed him up for a three month subscription. He really liked it when it arrived and in addition to using the items he was talking to me about the book when I was over to visit. Though he teases that I took the cheap way out only getting the three month and not the year, he still claims its one of the more unique gifts he’s gotten. He is going to continue it on his own but I was glad to have hit a home run with this gift.
