Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends deluxe sized product samples and is curated by the editors of Allure Magazine, who choose and test the products themselves. It’s $15 a month and if you sign up for a year-long subscription, you will pay for 11 boxes and get the 12th free. The amount of items sent each month varies and you can earn a “referral bonus box” in each month that a friend subscribes using your personal link.

The theme for March is “Finding Balance” and features both conventional and green beauty products.

Each box comes with a mini magazine that gives tips on how to use the products, how much the full-sized product costs, and where to purchase.

I received 6 products this month: 1 makeup product, 1 face product, 1 hair product, 1 body product, and 2 nail products. The items were shipped in a plain brown box that contained a glossy red box inside and there were tissue paper and shredded squiggles for packing.

Secret Invisible Solid in Cool Waterlily ($1.05) wasn’t listed in the mini magazine so I guess this is a bonus item and perfect to throw in my overnight bag. Features “fade resistant scent technology” so you can smell it all day long, up to 48 hours after applying.

There were two products from Londontown included this month. This brand is new to me but features vegan and cruelty-free nail care with names inspired by the United Kingdom, although the products are made in the USA. I couldn’t find a list of ingredients to see what all goes into Kur Nourishing Cuticle Oil ($18) but this brand uses rapeseed oil and a proprietary blend called Florium Complex in each of its products. I love the brush applicator and the scent is light and herby.

I received Lakur Enhanced Colour in Cheerio ($16) but Allure scent 5 different spring-friendly shades this month. Cheerio is a sheer pink that the brand calls “the perfect French manicure shade.” Here’s what it looks like with two coats on my nails. I prefer a bit more color – if I’m going to do my nails, I want people to notice! This looks like my nails, only better. This brand of nail lacquer is 9-free.

I really hoped that John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment ($2.25) would add some much needed volume to my limp locks but alas, it was not to be. I followed the directions and left it in my hair for 5 minutes after I washed and conditioned in the shower. I styled as usual and really didn’t see a noticeable difference. I hoped it would somehow work the next day, but again, no increase in body or volume. My search continues.

Derma•E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum ($2.33) is supposed to brighten skin while boosting collagen and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Aloe and green tea extracts along with hyaluronic acid are some of the key players. It has a pleasing scent from natural fragrance oils and absorbed quickly. Can be used twice a day after cleansing and before moisturizing.

Akar Skin Ruby Tint Lip Butter ($8) left my lips super smooth and silky and just the barest hint of color; I couldn’t even get a good swatch, it was so light. Caster and almond oils are blended with beeswax and the color comes from alkanet root.

My March Allure Beauty Box had a value of $47.63 and had products that I really liked! I’m glad that Allure included some natural beauty brands this month and I enjoyed the new nail color, even though it’s a little lighter than my usual choice. My nails are ever in need of cuticle oil and the lip butter is perfect for those no-makeup days.
