Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

That little card is a PLAY! Pass that will get you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box – in-store only.

Your subscription also entitles you to PLAY! Date meetups if your store participates. I don’t even have a Sephora (not even a JCP one) but this box totally excites me even without those experiences – I love the high end brands every month for just $10.

The theme is “The Soft Side” featuring beauty goodies that will help you make a radiant understatement.

This fold out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus beauty trivia and tips. You can access all of the information and also watch the videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

The bag has been changed up again this month!

I could see reusing this to pack some dainty lingerie.

Smitten!

Everything in my box! My variation was box 575.  See the spoilers for other variations here.

Clinique Moisturizer Pep-Start HydroBlur ($4.16) I thought this was an excellent wake-me-up moisturizer – it feels great on your face, and dries matte and blurs out imperfections. If you have used other blurring products it produces a typical effect. I loved how my face looked after I applied this and I thought this was an excellent makeup replacer for days that you don’t want foundation or CC cream.

Sephora Collection Lashcraft Length & Volume Mascara ($3.42) The teeniest mascara sample that could ever be produced! I felt for Sephora’s house brand they could be a little less stingy.

The brush was odd. It’s flat but volumizing and you’ll probably use it only the one way (compare photo above and below).

The paddle-shaped wand is unique for sure. The nylon-infused formula was soft and added a bit of drama without smudging, but no huge volume. I thought this was a good every day mascara.

Marc Jacobs Divine Decadence Perfume ($2.28) Fragrance is always different for every wearer – this is a “bright” new version of Decadence, a heavier woodier perfume. This one includes notes of champagne extract, orange blossom, creamy bergamot, gardenia, hydrangea, honeysuckle, saffron, vanilla, liquid amber. It’s meant to evoke the feel of sensual and luxurious  radiance.

On me, it went on really “fragrance-y” and seemed like something I wouldn’t like, but settled into a fragrance I LOVE! It’s delicious. I’ve been quite impressed with Sephora’s fragrance choices.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream ($10.20) I was surprised when I squeezed this out – the color of the cream is nearly identical to the color of the bag. It’s the light-reflecting particles, which do a great job of reducing the appearance of circles. The cream also contains coffee beans, panax ginseng, and magnolia extract to wake up your eyes, and I was impressed by it. I love this eye cream!

NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound ($9.10) This plush lip color is so pretty. I loved everything about it – glides on smooth, feels soft on my lips, and the rose pink works great with my complexion. It’s weightless but not transferproof – it’s stays a bit creamy, like a semi-matte, and does come off, but I got a lot of wear out of it even through morning caffeination activities.

Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy  in Milkshake ($4.71) OMG HOT LIP INJECTION! So first of all, this really tingles. REALLY. I showed my husband the effects (without checking them out myself) and he insisted it looked like I just went to the derm for lip fillers.  I have tried out the clear version but it didn’t have the same effect. UNLIKE the glossy version, this is paraben-free!

A word of caution, this does really burn a bit and if you try it out on your arm first, you probably won’t feel any effects. (I didn’t feel it at all on my swatch.).  Perhaps try a small dab first to see if you can tolerate it. Overall I was impressed – it’s the only lip plumper that’s ever plumped my lips. That being said, my lips are already fairly plump, so I don’t see myself reaching for this too often, except for the novelty. If you are a plumping queen you’re going to love this one!

The two lip items swatched!

The total value of the items this month was about $34. That’s a great value for a $10 beauty box even though the samples were pretty small. I enjoyed testing everything out, totally found 1-2 items I would repurchase, and will use all of the products up except for the plumper! I was more than happy to get the NARS (hello, NARS in a subscription box! Thanks Sephora!) but I would have loved to try out the Bite Beauty Multistick too.

Are you a Sephora Play subscriber? What did you think of the box this month??
