Paleo By Maileo is a subscription box that sends 5-8 paleo-friendly snacks each month so you can grab and go without having to think twice about whether or not it fits your eating plan.

Each month you will receive an assortment of crowd pleasing Paleo foods and snacks. Some of those items will be: cookies, chocolates, jerkies, crunchy snacks, dried fruit, nut mixes, bars and more.

Paleo By Maileo is $39 a month and is available in 1, 3, or 6-month terms. Channel your inner cave man (or woman) and get ready for some awesome, filling snacks!

I didn’t receive a product information card in the box so let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Bacon’s Heir Pork Clouds in Habañero ($2) was surprisingly NOT greasy, unlike the versions I’ve bought from the grocery store. I had my husband try them first to make sure they wouldn’t set my mouth on fire but they were tasty and not too spicy. Of course, I never saw them again because my husband finished the bag pretty quickly!

I brought these two items to work to try with my friends. Gorilly Goods Baja Pumpkin Seed/Hemp/Cilantro ($2.19) was a savory trail mix with a spicy pumpkin seed base and some zing from chili powder and lime juice. We didn’t care for the dried pieces of cilantro stem, which was hard to chew and I ended up spitting those pieces out. One friend said it would make a great salad topping while another said it would be good mixed with nuts. We all agreed that RXBAR in Mint Chocolate ($2.17) was absolutely perfect! Although dates are the first ingredient, it didn’t taste like date. It had a thicker, denser texture than a LäraBar and a friend described it as “nougat-like.” To me, it seemed almost buttery and 3 out of 4 of us loved the mint flavor.

Here’s the Gorilly Goods up close and personal.

LäraBar’s are one of my standby snacks but this Organic with Superfoods Hazelnut, Hemp, & Cacao ($2.49) is new to me and has only 6 ingredients, including hemp seeds and crunchy bits of cacao nibs. Yum! Epic Bar Chicken Sriracha  ($2.49) tasted like a soft jerky and was very spicy and tangy, like vinegar. It had a paste-like texture and we thought it smelled a bit like pet food. Luckily there was Heavenly Organics Pomegranate Honey Patties ($1.34) which were indeed divine. Raw honey flavored with pomegranate oozes out of the dark chocolate shell. So sweet and decadent!

There were two products from Steve’s PaleoGoods this month. Beef PaleoJerky ($4.95) is made with free-range, hormone-free beef and no nitrates, MSG, soy, gluten, or sugar. My husband liked it but it was a bit too chewy for me, although maybe that’s the point. Cinnamon PaleoCrunch ($7.95), however, was totally delicious and my friends and I kept going back for more. You can eat this with almond milk or straight from the bag as it has huge clusters of coconut, almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and more, sweetened with honey and flavored with cinnamon. Super tasty!

I enjoyed my first Paleo By Maileo Box! I thought the snacks were tasty and filling and liked discovering new brands. The treats were easy to take with me on the go, too! My box had a value of $25.58, which is well under the cost of the subscription. I would like to either see the subscription price come down or see a few more snacks in the box. If you prefer the convenience of having all of your paleo-friendly snacks picked out for you without having to comb through the store’s inventory reading labels (and without having to purchase a case of each snack), then Paleo By Maileo is the box for you!
