Loot Crate DX is a deluxe monthly subscription box from Loot Crate. It’s themed with the regular Loot Crate theme, except it contains premium next level loot for discerning geeks! It’s like a special edition box from Loot Crate – every month!
More Than Meets The Eye!
The box comes with a tri-fold booklet with information about Loot Crate’s community features on the back. Check out the theme experience hub here.
The theme of the month is Origins.
The information card gives you a list of all the items in the box. It’s super sturdy and some parts are highlighted with a nice gloss.
All the Loot Crate DX goodies this month!
January 2017 Batman ’66 Logo Pin
This large pin features the Batman ’66 Logo – very old school and slick!
There are 2 posts on the back so it stays in the correct position.
Batman (Detective Comics #27) Metal Sign: In line with the origins theme, the start of THE BATMAN back in 1939 in Detective Comics #27!
I think the signs are pretty awesome – they match pretty much any geek decor, they’re high-quality and don’t need to be framed.
Superman (Action Comics #1) Metal Sign: We got a repro of this issue in the core Loot Crate for January. I’m really pumped to hang this one up!
Art of Atari Capsule Edition Hardcover Book ($15? linked to “poster edition” which is available for pre-order!)
Even from the inside cover, I knew this would be awesome.
I enjoyed poring over every page. This is my favorite book I’ve ever received from Loot Crate.
Talk about a blast from the past.
1960’s Batman Bendable Figures Set ($16.63)
The Penguin, Catwoman, Batman, Robin, The Joker – all from the 60’s Batman.
These guys don’t have the best paint job ever (and the capes are that weird reusable promo bag material), but they’re fun, and my husband has enjoyed playing with them.
I’m not even going to pretend he played with the kids with them. He played with them like the little bendy action figures they are.
Optimus Prime Schematics Long-Sleeved Shirt: I may have cackled at my husband that this shirt was for me. I love it!
The shirt features schematics of Optimus Prime (circa 1984!) in his various forms. I think it’s totally rad!
This wasn’t my best ever DX, but it was actually pretty good. It was hard to go wrong with the theme because origin stories are so broadly appealing. I loved the shirt and the tins and the book. But no matter how much I liked the items and thought that they were particularly usable and likeable this month, the value wasn’t there for me – maybe $60-$65 with the pin. No way was it even close to $100 retail value. Better luck next month?
