The Hippie Hobby is a bi-monthly craft subscription box. In every box you’ll receive a surprise crafting kit, which incorporates recycled, upcycled, or natural elements (the “Hippie” part!).

The first look in my box and all of the supplies are wrapped up in tissue paper. It keeps everything nice and neat and secure in travel.

DEAL: You can save $7 on your first box with coupon code HELLO!

The information sheet is a folded paper and the front has a great picture of the products included. This month’s craft is a DIY string art. I was stoked to be making this as I’ve been seeing them out and about in the home decor stores and I love the look.

The information card provided the instructions for the craft and is in full color with complete instructions. The printing on this is really high quality.

The box also had a little “Did You Know” note in it telling about the history of string art.

I love how they use shredded papers as their box fillers since it is a great upcycled use for old papers. Everything was nice and neat in here with the little items all sealed up.

Everything that is in the box. The smaller items were sealed into a bag that had little compartments all called out in there. It was so easy to know what all we had and when to use it.

My sister was here this weekend and she loved this one so she sat down and started making it. First step was to stain the wood with the coffee grains.

After letting the stain dry, she used the paint sticks to attach the three pieces of wood together. With the wood attached together, she decided to make the amperes and pattern. The pattern sheet had the amperes and on one side and the 3 arrows on the other.

Hippie Hobby said to first outline your pattern and then start weaving the string through them. There is no right or wrong way and you just keep going until you are happy. They sent three skeins of floss to use. My sister used two of them and decided she liked the look so we saved the last one for another project.

Her finished project!!! I love it and think it will work great in any space. With collage art walls all the rage right now, this will fit right in. She is currently in college and moving into her first big girl apartment this summer and can’t wait to display this in there. The Hippie Hobby always has a unique and fun take on crafts I see out when shopping and I love the upcycled aspect of them and she does too. Of the two of us, she is the more crunchy one. I can’t wait to recreate a similar project for my house soon. This is one that can be done over and over in your home and you will never get tired of it.
