The Curiosity Box  is a quarterly subscription box to satisfy your thirst for knowledge. Each box comes with 6-9 items that will not only entertain, but also educate you and your family.  The subscription is $49.90 per quarter and a portion of all proceeds are donated to fund Alzheimer’s research.

If it a looks a little bit like a GeekFuel unboxing, that’s because the two companies are related.

Each box comes with the Curiosity Quarterly by VSauce.

The quarterly is loaded with interesting, short articles for the curious-minded! The style of the writing is light and quirky, great for all ages.

A page is divided to each item in the box, so you’ll know just what to do with everything in the box.

The VSauce crew covers a lot of ground with their selections for the box, treating you to engineering, geology, chemistry, math, and all-around geekery.

The packaging for the box is top-notch. The VSauce crew even goes so far as to call it limited edition collectible packaging!

Everything in the box!

Simple Planes Free Download on Steam ($13 Value): My son is really into Blocksworld, and I have a feeling he’ll love this build-and-fly program.

The key allows you to download directly from steam, so no optical drive is required. The game lets you design airplanes, adjust their performance characteristics, and test fly them!

Curiosity Box Collectible Enamel Pin: Celebrating the lovely geodes in this quarter’s box, the collectible pin features INQ, the curious octopus, preparing for some mining and spelunking.

The pin is really nice quality, with a lush enamel coating and precise detail.

Inq’s Hydrophobic Sand: This stuff was developed to aid in oil spill cleanup. When placed in water, it clings to itself, repelling the water.

Inq’s Plush Toy: The cute mascot in all his glory. I love the bright colors and bug eyes.

he is very detailed, complete with decorative “suction cups” on his tentacles (or are they eightacles?).

Stuff Matters by Mark Miodownik: This book explores the characteristics of everyday items, showing us why their composition matters and makes them useful for their intended purpose.

It covers the peculiarities and unique properties of everything from chocolate to Buckminsterfullerene.

Easily accessible, this tome explains explores both the ordinary and fantastical.

INQ’s Beaker Mug: This handy mug has a handle and classic beaker markings in white.

The various milliliter markings are annotated with interesting facts pertaining to that particular volume of liquid.

Curiosity Box Pi (π) Shirt: Mmmm… Pi! This comfy shirt has a wonderfully geeky mash-up of math and Americana.

If there is one “constant” in life, it is that everyone loves “Pi.”

Spheroidal Mass of Mineral Matter Science Kit: This kit comes in a box suitable for gifting, and it has (almost) everything needed to explore awesome geodes!

Everything in the kit – safety glasses, a magnifying glass, information booklet, geode stand, and two geodes!

The guide has tons of great info on geodes and related structures.

It includes info on the various minerals typically contained in geodes, plus instructions on cracking and exploring the included geodes.
This subscription is great for everyone from curious kids to science-minded adults. It always has cool stuff.  It is a nice break from project-based STEM boxes – the items aren’t tied into structured investigations, just for fooling with and enjoying at your leisure.  The book choices are great (they pick titles that combine rigorous scientific investigation with really relatable topics), and the gadgets are fun for all ages.

Can we get this box? Or so we get the new 2020 box? My son LOVED his beaker mug, and used it daily for years, but it broke tonight. We were wondering if we would be able to get that box for sure when we subscribe? 🙂
