So Choix is a cosmetics sample subscription service; think Netflix for luxury brand cosmetics. Their goal is to combine the best parts of the in-store experience with online shopping. For $15 a month, you’ll get your choice of 5 beauty products to try. Build your queue with any products you want to try from So Choix’s lineup of luxury brands and products. Add, edit, and delete products from your queue as you wish. You’ll also earn 250 points ($5 credit) every month that can be redeemed towards any product at So Choix. Points can be rolled over and do not expire! You can also sample items from So Choix without a subscription for $5 each (turns into $5 credit towards the full–size product).

Choix is French for choice, and this service strives to give you that. So Choix was created on the following philosophy:

That’s why we let you choose the beauty samples you want to try! We let you try on enough sample of the product to determine whether or not that product lives up to a standard you are happy with, because we believe you need to be able to touch and try makeup and beauty products (on your face!) to love it…

We want to give you an easy, risk-free, and hassle free way of shopping for beauty…we want to help you make thoughtful decisions about your beauty look, your beauty routine, and help you discover who you are, without pressure! This is beauty on your terms.

Products and tools are packed separately. The lid contains a list of the items sent.

Each product is secured in the box to keep it from rattling around during shipment.

Tom Ford Concealing Pen – TF Medium: This sample is a whipped mousse concealer. I thought that it provided good color coverage and did not feel thick. The full-sized product is in a pen with a special applicator tip, and some reviewers said they felt the applicator made a difference.

Gucci Magnetic Color Shadow Mono – 150 Ultra Violet: The complete palette is composed of iconic colors from Gucci’s fashion archives and modern hues lifted directly from the runway show. I felt the shadow applied smoothly, but it needed a primer underneath to make the color pop.

Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Solo Eyeshadow – 2 Navy Matte: This is a highly pigmented shadow with a matte finish.  I felt this has full-color coverage even without a primer underneath.

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner – Black Ink: I am so in LOVE with this gel eyeliner. It is highly pigmented and goes on smoothly. The waterproof color really does lasts 12 hours as promised. So Choix says the sample should last 1-2 regular uses but I don’t know how they determined that amount. Since this is so pigmented, a little goes a long way. The formula is thicker than most gels I’ve used before.

Living Proof “Curl” Leave-In Conditioner: I’ve heard so much about Living Proof products and was excited to try this. It did a nice job conditioning my hair, leaving it soft with defined curls. However, the sample wasn’t enough to cover all of my hair. While I liked this conditioner, I don’t think I’m ready to drop money for the full size.

From top to bottom: Giorgio Armani shadow, Gucci shadow, Bobbi Brown eyeliner, and Tom Ford concealer.

I guess I was in an eye mood when I pulled these to the top of my queue list. Although it’s more than I would like to spend on a liner, I am going to invest in the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner. It was such a great find. Now I’m off to sort my items and create next month’s lineup.
