BeautyFIX is a monthly subscription box from Dermstore that sends you the latest skin care, hair care, and makeup products for $24.95 a month (or $34.95 for a one-time purchase). They feature full and travel-sized products and promise the box will contain at least $100 worth of items. Everyone receives the same products, although makeup colors or scents may differ, but at least you will know what you’re getting if you decide to purchase the box after you see the contents.

TIP: you can subscribe to BeautyFIX and receive this exact box – it’s usually available all the way through the end of the month!

The theme this month is “Ooh La La.”

The product information card gave the item name, what it’s used for, and a coupon code for a shop purchase.

If you’re wondering our reviewer Debbie typically reviews this box. My credit card was compromised, and it took about 10 phone calls and emails to correct it. The card to be charged for a box already in progress can’t be updated via the website. Somehow this ended up here instead of there.

Everything in my box!

By Terry Baume De Rose ($18) This multi-purpose balm can be used for lips, nails, or wherever you might find a dry patch. The rose scent on this salve isn’t super strong, which is good for me, because I’m a tad sensitive to it.

Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Illuminating Primer ($36) This full-size primer is one of those products that works well – but that you have to figure out how you’re going to use it. For me, I love an illuminating primer as a light makeup, because I get the illuminating effects and they aren’t hidden by a full face of makeup.

You may not see the luminizing effects under heavy coverage makeup, but under a lightweight serum foundation you’ll see a nice glow. I love this item because I always strive to have something with natural actives right next to my face, and Juice Beauty is famous for it!

SkinMedica Total Defense + Repair Sunscreen ($29.57) I’m going to Florida in a couple weeks and this one is coming with – it’s a nice high SPF with age protection and water resistant too. It uses a combo of chemical & physical sunscreens so I’ll use it on my neck and arms (except for a very few formulations I cannot tolerate chemical sunscreen near my eyes). This was almost 50% of the full size, which a fantastic sample for such a pricey brand.

I did note, however, that this item has an expiration of 3/17. If you can’t use yours up by the end of the month of the expiration date, it’s worth reaching out to BeautyFIX to correct, but it may take a few calls.

Smart Fx Volume Extend Mascara ($12, 8.15 on Amazon) I received this in my April Box, less than a year ago. This mascara requires quite a few coats, and unlike last time I experienced some flaking. New formula maybe?

LaRoche-Posay Rosaliac CC Cream ($2.29) I tried out this CC Cream and I thought it was fantastic, except for the chemical sunscreen. I love this brand to begin with because they have a lot of products designed to take care of skin like mine (sensitive, sun damaged, etc). This had nice coverage, an SPF, and did correct my skin tone. I just can’t personally use this around my eyes (they get watery all day long). I use CoTZ for a product like this.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Lip Satin in Cashmere ($48) This is one of the oddest lip products I’ve ever used.  The color is fantastic and perfect for me. The brand describes the lip satin as a “unique blend of glycerine and pure pigments glide on effortlessly and dry down for a perfect semi-matte, long-wearing, velvety finish. Lip feel soft and smooth.” It took quite a long time to set. It wasn’t tacky or sticky at all, but I certainly wouldn’t call it velvety.

Maybe I’ll try using a smaller amount (I tested on my lips too). It does feel great on, and the color is lovely and perfect for lip month!

This box has a value of $142 or so, depending how you calculate. I thought it was pretty good. I was incredibly pleased with getting the full-size primer and lip satin, and the rose salve is pretty luxurious too. Don’t forget to ring up BeautyFIX if you received expired product!
