Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

That little card is a PLAY! Pass that will get you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box – in-store only.

Your subscription also entitles you to PLAY! Date meetups if your store participates. I don’t even have a Sephora (not even a JCP one) but this box totally excites me even without those experiences – I love the high end brands every month for just $10.

The theme is “Beauty, Set, Go!” featuring beauty fresh-start essentials!

This fold out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus beauty trivia and tips. You can access all of the information and also watch the videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

A reminder that you can get a free one-on-one tutorial with the PLAY! Pass – find the just-right shade for you!

Sweat is just another way to glow, indeed!

The items are placed inside a bag inside the box to keep everything secure. This month featured a cool mesh bag! I was happy to see they mixed it up!

Everything in my box! My variation was box 476. Here’s some variant items from other boxes!

Ouai Treatment Masque ($6.67) You know what I love about this mask? You put it on DRY hair for 5-10 minutes, chill (yes, that’s what it says, the bottle told me to chill!), and then rinse off. It worked great for my hair, which is admittedly fine and short. If you have silicone product build-up issues, this wouldn’t be the product for you. PLUS, the full-size comes in packets, and I’m not really sure that would work for everyone (I certainly prefer the tube).

Tory Burch Love Relentlessly ($1) Yay, a sprayer! I think that’s fantastic for a free bonus sample. This fragrance has notes of pink pepper, rose, orris, and sandalwood and this fun romantic scent is a nice pick for the days leading up to V-Day! It’s inspired by her parents –

If I told you that I love you,

Would you hold it against me?

My father wrote this note to my mother, which he ran in the newspaper and signed “Love, Relentless.” – Tory Burch

Romantic, or creepy?

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream ($6) I was so psyched to get this variation in my box!  This moisturizer is a blend of six African oils plus fermented green tea and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer (for hydration).

This whipped moisturizer is designed to brighten and improve firmness. I smelled and smelled and smelled it again and I couldn’t detect a scent – at all. Not even a “this is a natural product and this is a natural scent” sort of thing. No smell! I loved that! I wished it was a little more hydrating/oily for my dry skin, so I don’t think this is my go-to winter product, but I think it will be marvelous as my summer cream. I’ll probably buy a full-size in a few months.

Tarte FRXXXTION Stick ($4.84) I didn’t read the card or anything about this product, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

When I saw it I thought it must be a purple blush – nope! It’s a gel stick exfoliator that can also be used as a mask! It uses diatomaceous earth microexfoliants to help brighten and tone skin.

So weird, but really neat!

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey ($12.24) Black Honey is the most perfect color ever invented. I feel like I was in college when Clinique intro’d it, but the card says it’s been around since 1971. That’s amazing staying power for a lipstick shade! It works great with so many complexions and is just perfect in the Almost Lipstick formulation, which is glossy, but leaves great color.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ in Medium ($4.75)  Speaking of amazing, this is my favorite CC cream – amazing coverage, never cakey, and it’s really just the right amount of coverage plus it has an SPF 50! This shade is too dark for my winter skin tone, but I do use medium of this exact product in the summer. For everyone that’s wondering, yes, my skin tone is set as fair in my Play! profile. I do really like this medium weight easy to apply coverage, but wish it had come in a lighter tone.

The total value of the items this month was about $35.50. Amazing, as always! If I had to make any complaints it would be that I received two products that for my skin are better summertime products, so I’m not sure how well that profile system is working. I love the products but they don’t work for me for winter in my climate – but I’ll totally use them, so I’m still happy with the box. In particular I absolutely love the brands that Sephora sends out. Who wouldn’t?!

Are you a Sephora Play subscriber? What did you think of the box this month??
