The January 2017 box featured products from Akar Skin. Akar means “white crystal,” a symbol of purity, in Tibetan. Using akar as its inspiration, Akar Skin creates pure and natural skin care products using organic and wildcrafted ingredients. Although Akar Skin adds no preservatives to its products, consumers can expect products to remain fresh for two years if unopened and for six months once opened.
This month’s shipment included Akar’s Neat Remedy Face Oil, Lush Balance Toning Mist, Mini Care Lip Butter and a travel tote.

Akar Skin’s Organic and Nontoxic Neat Remedy Face Oil ($80) is made from 100% natural organic or wildcrafted ingredients. It’s an ideal moisturizer for oily, combination and sensitive skin. But honestly, my skin is dry and sensitive, and I like this a lot too! It’s designed to balance skin’s sebum levels while also calming inflammations and clarifying complexions, all without drying skin. To use, apply when your face is moist from the toning mist. This will help with absorption.
Akar Skin’s Mini Care Lip Butter ($25) is a soft, petroleum-free lip butter that hydrates instantly. Made from 100% natural organic or wildcrafted ingredients, this lip butter has a castor seed oil, almond oil and beeswax base. This is the first lip butter I’ve used that hasn’t required near constant reapplication. It’s fabulous.
Akar Skin’s Organic and Nontoxic Lush Balance Toning Mist ($24) contains 94% organic or wildcrafted ingredients. It’s designed to protect skin from free radicals while also reducing both fine lines and wrinkles. Together, its ingredients help to repair cells while restoring skin’s pH and tightening skin’s pores. To use, simply spray 3-5 times on your skin immediately after cleansing. This toner has a lovely light scent and felt great on my skin.
Akar Skin’s travel cosmetic bag ($25) is sturdy and light. I love that I can see through it without opening it up.
