January’s OwlCrate theme is Classic Remix and I was immediately intrigued.  Owl Crate is a monthly subscription of books and bookish items box. Each OwlCrate contains one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish items all matched to the monthly theme.

OwlCrate always has the best info card prints. With the theme this month of Classic Remix I love the old style theater look. I still love going to the theater to see a movie. It is such a great experience and everything looks so much better big up on the screen.

The information card tells a little bit about all the items in this months box. I love how they give little notes on why things are there and what they like about it. So much fun and as the note says “Happy reading, and thanks for being awesome!” – Owlcrate

Everything in the January Classic Remix OwlCrate.

Roseblood by A.G. Howard ($11.98) – I’m a huge fan of the Phantom of the Opera musical and this story is inspired by the musical and novel. The author A.G Howard is known for her Splintered series that I have not read but I’ve heard good things. This one has me so excited and I’m adding it to my read pile next to my chair.

Rune, whose voice has been compared to that of an angel, has a mysterious affliction linked to her talent that leaves her sick and drained at the end of every performance. Convinced creative direction will cure her, her mother ships her off to a French boarding school for the arts, rumored to have a haunted past.

Shortly after arriving at RoseBlood conservatory, Rune starts to believe something otherworldly is indeed afoot. The mystery boy she’s seen frequenting the graveyard beside the opera house doesn’t have any classes at the school, and vanishes almost as quickly as he appears. When Rune begins to develop a secret friendship with the elusive Thorn, who dresses in clothing straight out of the 19th century, she realizes that in his presence she feels cured. Thorn may be falling for Rune, but the phantom haunting RoseBlood wants her for a very specific and dangerous purpose. As their love continues to grow, Thorn is faced with an impossible choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or save her and face the wrath of the phantom, the only father he’s ever known.

It also came with a note from the author and a signed bookplate. The book and the note and bookplate come in a plastic bag to keep everything nice and tidy. It is the little details that really set this box apart.

First Edition Tea Co Mint Tea (This one is exclusive to OwlCrate but a set of 5 other Literary inspired teas is $12 ) – This tea was inspired by the classic the Little Prince and is a mint tea. I’m not sure this is for me but I’m going to pass it on to a friend who loves all different teas.

Book Soap by Tea Soap Books (exclusive to OwlCrate) – This is an exclusive scent inspired but the Secret Garden which is one of my favorites. I love the books and the movie for that one. This soap is so cute and it looks like an open book. I can’t wait to put this one out for everyone to enjoy.

Slaughterhouse Five bookmark by Lexy Olivia – This is a stunning bookmark and I’m adding it to my stash. My son tends to take my bookmarks for his books and they don’t make it back so I expect this one to end up with him but I’m hoping to get it for myself with an upcoming book.

OwlCrate always sends a pin inspired by the theme. This is a very retro theater looking emblem this month.

Phantom of the Opera inspired magnet from Sweet Sequels – This is already on my fridge. I love it and the classic theater look of it all.  The purple is stunning and so pretty. My oldest son took right off with it and put it up.

Calendar by Obvious State (4) – This is a gorgeous calendar and the designs for each month are inspired by a classic story.  Check out a couple of the pages below. I’m still working on my office redo and I’m going to find a place for this one right in there.  It is not a calendar for jotting notes on but it will be great to glance at when I’m just looking up a date or what day of the week something is plus the designs are beautiful and I will love looking at them for the month.

Another great month for Owl Crate. They really go above and beyond in their curation and you can see where everything fits in and why it was selected. I love that they send books that are so new. I’m not usually one to buy things right when they come out since I seem to always be catching up on my reading but for those that are more on top of things its a great chance this isn’t something they would have. The books have yet to disappoint and they make the top of my to be read pile each month.

February’s theme is Run Away with the Circus and the boxes will also include a delicious item from Frostbeard Studio

What did you think of this month’s amazing Owl Crate theme? Are you ready for next month’s?
