From Japan Crate comes Kira Kira Crate, a box dedicated to Japanese beauty! Kira Kira means “to sparkle” and with this box full of makeup, skincare, and other tools from Japan, you will sparkle as well! I’ve always loved Japanese cosmetics, but they are extremely pricey. Even the drugstore lines, adorable as they are, are costly to import. There have been a few boxes that have tried to do a J-beauty box, but it really is cost prohibitive, so I’m very excited to see what Kira Kira Crate has in store!

You’re not seeing things – this is the December 2016 box, even though I just reviewed the January box a few days ago! For some reason, some boxes I get from Japan were delayed (customs, perhaps, or the Christmas rush?) and this one turned up a week after the January box arrived.

The booklet included with the box has a brief welcome letter, a list of the products included, and additional pages give English instructions for each product.

Ichigo Milk Flavour Bath Salts & Soap. Matching bath salts and soap, scented with strawberry milk. The scent is a sweet strawberry with a hint of creaminess to it. I really liked the bath salts, and the soap isn’t too drying.

Pure Smile YoGrip Rose&Honey Mask ($3.40) I was actually able to find this product on Cosme, which is basically Japan’s Sephora. I LOVE this product – the scent is fantastic (rose and honey), the rice bran and yogurt combo left my face feeling soft, and the packaging is amazing – it’s actually resealable! You can use this mask on your face, chest, arms, etc.

Detox Foot Patches. These are patches you put on the soles of your feet and leave on overnight. Supposedly, it uses bamboo vinegar to pull toxins from your body to promote health, but honestly, I did a bit of googling and I don’t really buy it. It’s definitely kind of gross slash cool to see the pads come off all brown and gooey the next morning.

Pure Smile Green Tea Mask. Another sheet mask, which is great since I go through these like water. The Pure Smile ones fit my face better than others, so I like theirs.

Morning Surprise Monroe Peach Hand Cream. This product is actually from Korea. It has a light peach scent and made my hands soft.

Dear Laura 9 Colour Lip and Cheek Palette. I haven’t decided whether to keep this or to gift it. I tend to shy away from palettes because I usually only use one or two shades, so this might be handed over to a friend or to my sister.

December’s Kira Kira Crate wasn’t my favorite but it still had some nice items – I’m very happy with the Pure Smile products and the bath items. Japanese beauty products are expensive so Kira Kira tends to steer towards a larger number of lower-value items versus fewer high-value items.
