My books arrived in a newly decorated box! I received 2 paperbacks this month. I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover but these two look like polar opposites!

Along with a new shipping box design, it looks like the product info card has been replaced by a bookmark, which is fine with me since I’m always searching for bookmarks.

Love Gently Falling by Melody Carlson ($12 $7.97) is about a young woman returning home to temporarily take over the family business while her mother recuperates from an illness. It falls under the Christian fiction as well as romance genres and sounds a bit like something from The Hallmark Channel. The cover even reminds me of American Girl books!

Rita Jansen is living her dream as a hairstylist in Hollywood when her father calls with news that her mother has suffered a stroke. When she gets home to Chicago, Rita finds her mother is healing but facing a long recovery. Worse, without being able to run their family-owned salon, her mother could lose the business. Rita decides to help, but she only has until Valentine’s Day to come up with a plan.
As Rita takes her mother’s place at work, the nearby skating rink she loved as a child brings back fond memories. Rita also finds herself renewing friendships with her childhood best friend, Marley, as well as her classmate Johnny. Although they now lead such seemingly different lives, Rita is surprised by how well she and Johnny connect and how far he will go to help her. Though Rita believes Johnny is only being kind, with romance kindling in the air and on the ice, their friendship may just fall into something more.

NOTE: The following book is labeled “erotica” so proceed with caution. Or abandon. Your choice…

The Dirty Girls Book Club by Savanna Fox ($16) is the first in a series of three books about some women who make a few changes in their lives after deciding to spice up their book club choices.

Every woman who joined the book club expected to expand their literary horizons. But when they stop reading the classics and start exploring the steamy side of fiction, they discover just how much fun reading can be…

When the book club makes their first erotic selection The Sexual Education of Lady Emma Whitehead, marketing executive Georgia Malone is surprised to find herself identifying with the main character. Like Emma, Georgia is a widow who has never truly experienced the joys of sex. But when she meets the spokesman for her newest campaign, Georgia’s long-buried libido is awakened.

Hockey star Woody Hanrahan is charming and cocky—the sort of man Georgia usually avoids. But while her mind is saying stay away, Georgia’s body is telling her to give in every time Woody comes near. Now as her book club explores the tantalizing extremes of fiction, Georgia is experiencing first hand, and for the first time, the real pleasures of the flesh, and fulfilling the desires that—chapter by chapter—are getting delightfully dirty. Woody is hers to command in a hundred deliciously wicked ways, but when it comes to writing her own happy ending, this dirty girl doesn’t just need his body—she wants his heart.

Wow, these books choices are so different that I’m not quite sure what to think! This month’s selections totaled $23.97, which is more than the price of the subscription plus shipping. I’m not sure which one to read first, although with youngsters in the house I may have to get creative at covering one of them up!

What did you think of this month’s choices? Have you tried any of the BookCase Club subscriptions?
