Unlike many subscriptions, Bluum gives you the option of selecting your own products each month. When I first started to review Bluum, I let them select my items. The reasons were twofold: 1) Brandy told me that boxes curated by Bluum tend to have a higher retail value 2) By the time I logged into my account, there wasn’t much left to choose from! This month, though, I tried to select my own products. I logged in as soon as I received my box last month and was pleased with what I saw. Unfortunately, I only received a couple of the products that I requested. Also, my November box arrived on the same day as my December box, leaving me unable to select my own items for December.

This month, I received scissors, a stuffed animal, bubble bath and shampoo/body wash.

My son and I are always searching our house for children’s scissors (where do they all go?), so I was excited to get to select Melissa and Doug’s Child-Safe Scissor Set ($2.99) with my son in mind. Selecting them also reminded me that I need to get my daughter a pair of whole hand first scissors so that she can begin to develop the hand strength to operate scissors like these on her own.

They work great with paper. My son decided his other scissors were better for handling the tape.

Manhattan Toy Company’s Little Ones Finn Fox ($11) is soft and cute.

Upon seeing him, my daughter exclaimed, “Mine!” She has enjoyed playing with her new fox ever since.

Although I did not select either of this month’s bath products, we can always use bubble bath and baby shampoo. Nature’s Baby Organics’ Lovely Lavender Bubble Bath ($12.99) smells great and makes bath time fun. It has an aloe vera base and 70% of its ingredients are organic.

Nature’s Baby Organics’ Lavender Chamomile Shampoo and Body Wash ($9.95) is made from an aloe vera base and also contains 70% organic ingredients. It’s hypoallergenic and free of SLS, parabens and glutens. It smells great too. I just wish it hadn’t leaked during transport.

Although I liked my box this month, I wish that I had received the items I had selected during the month of November. Still, I’m happy that we’re caught up and look forward to receiving my January box next month.
