BeautyFIX is a monthly subscription box from Dermstore that sends you the latest skin care, hair care, and makeup products for $24.95 a month (or $34.95 for a one-time purchase). They feature full and travel-sized products and promise the box will contain at least $100 worth of items. Everyone receives the same products, although makeup colors or scents may differ, but at least you will know what you’re getting if you decide to purchase the box after you see the contents.

TIP: you can subscribe to BeautyFIX and receive this exact box – it’s usually available all the way through the end of the month!

The product information card gave the item name, what it’s used for, and a coupon code for a shop purchase. This month’s theme was “Hello 2017.”

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant ($4.07) This product is brand new and is supposed to help fight environmental pollutants while gently exfoliating the skin. I poured a half-teaspoon into my hand and added a bit of water and mixed up a slightly soapy paste. I rubbed in for a minute and rinsed thoroughly. It didn’t irritate my skin and my face felt very soft afterwards. Gentle enough for daily use but skip if you use prescription exfoliators.

Manna Kadar Lip Locked Priming Lipstick in Love (Color will vary, $24) This lipstick and primer combo is enriched with vitamins A & E for a moisturizing finish.

My lipstick was jammed into the lid but otherwise usable.

This shade is a pink/peach combo but I didn’t like the formula. It was opaque and sat on top of my lips, even after I tried blending it in with a lip brush.

Avène Thermal Spring Water ($14) I have several travel-sized versions of this can o’ water but this is the largest one I have ever received! I know, it’s just water in a can, but it does have minerals and is very soothing when my face feels hot. Plus, I will sometimes spray it on just before using a facial oil to lock in extra moisture.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask ($36) This is another product that I have several little baby versions of hanging around my house; now, I have the mother lode! Argan, avocado, and sweet almond oil help nourish and soothe hair while biotin helps promote healthy hair growth. I only deep-condition once a week so this should last a long time.

Nick Chavez Beverly Hills Soft Flocker ($15) I had a love/hate relationship with this product. I have super fine hair so I’m always suspicious of products that say they are great for ALL hair types. Shea butter, beeswax, and sunflower seed oil sound pretty greasy to me. I used a bit before blow drying and when I was finished with my round brush my hair was sticking out from the side of my head in a way that would make Pippi Longstocking proud. I followed it up with my curling iron (yes, they still exist!) and my hair was smoking! Like, literally SMOKING because the product that was touching the iron burned. Which means I was probably frying my hair. I think I’m going to stick to using this post-styling as a texturizer for that piecey look.

Dermarché Labs BioREWIND AM ($12.50) This non-greasy serum is meant to be used in the morning and has hyaluronic acid to draw water to the skin, vitamins C & E to nourish and brighten the skin, and an antioxidant complex to protect against free-radicals and pollutants. This is such a small sample but it’s nice to try something luxurious.

MD Solar Sciences Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 ($12.50) I can’t believe this is half of the full-sized product because it’s pretty tiny! I love sunscreen and use it every day and this one instantly transported me back to my home state of California, though I’m not sure why. It’s scented with natural oils and extracts such as lavender, rosemary, and green tea and protects skin with several antioxidants like vitamin C, green tea, and aloe. I love this SPF/moisturizer combo!

This month’s box contained 7 items and was worth around $118.07! I enjoyed the selection of products and thought they were good products to help start off the new year. My favorites were the sunscreen and exfoliator and I had fun trying that Flocker! What did you think of this box? Let me know in the comments!
