There was a card inside with some info on Scentbird’s newest venture, Deck of Scarlet, a bimonthly makeup subscription!

Scentbird’s Perfume Editors pick a new scent every month to feature. December’s is Pinrose Wild Child; January’s is Malin + Goetz Dark Rum:

Dark Rum Eau de Toilette is comprised of the sweet and spicy extracts of bergamot, plum, amber and patchouli, and a rich mix of rum, leather and cream. Dark Rum is a warm and seductive natural spray.

Sounds warm and cozy!

You can see all the previous Perfumes of the Month at the bottom of the Scent of the Month page. Note that if your wish list is empty you’ll get the scent of the month. You can now get on demand scents, but if you’re a subscriber it’s less expensive to get a new one each month and there’s something to be said about giving yourself time to enjoy your new fragrance for a while.

Your first month will include a little perfume vial case and velvet holder. Scentbird decants the perfume from the manufacturer’s bottle to a little glass vial that fits in the sprayer. The perfumes are 100% authentic and you’ll receive a .27 oz sprayer. A card comes with the vial demonstrating its use. You just twist it to spray!

New subscribers receive a sleek black case but other colors are available for an additional cost.

I selected Thirdman Eau Inexplicable for December, which is a unisex scent that is supposed to smell fresh without the use of citrus. This scent is classified as a woody aromatic and has notes of vetiver, geranium, and sage. On my body, this starts off a little soapy with lime zest and then smells clean and a bit like alcohol. It actually reminded me of Juliet Has A Gun Not A Perfume and I sprayed one on one arm and one on the other and kept comparing and contrasting. It didn’t last very long but I liked it.

Scentbird provides a quick visual guide to the perfumes. You can get even more details on the different vectors of the scent by mousing over each of the main areas. This shows the scent to be woody and citrusy with spicy coming in strong too. The value this month was about $8.34 which is under the subscription price. I like to wear a different fragrance daily so Scentbird lets me play the field rather than make a long-term commitment and to me, that’s a great deal!
