December’s OwlCrate theme is Epic and epic it was. We were told if we loved Lord of the Rings, Games of Thrones, Harry Potter, and Narnia we would love this box and they were not mistaken! Owl Crate is a monthly subscription of books and bookish items box. Each OwlCrate contains one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish items all matched to the monthly theme.

OwlCrate always has the best info card prints. This one is truly Epic with all of the promised fandoms represented. I did half expect them to be on a yellow bring road just to tie in another one but the stone wall is still fantastic.

DEAL: Use coupon code HELLO15 to save 15% on your first subscription!

The information card tells a little bit about all the goodies in the box. I love that it says Spoiler Warning across the top since if you are getting the card then you have the box and you can look at the contents. It makes me chuckle every time I see that and read it.

Everything in the December Epic OwlCrate.

of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst ($10.83) – I love a good fairytale and what is better than telling the story of a princess. This one sounds like it has lots of intrigue and battles and I’ve been hearing good things about it. OwlCrate had told us this book featured magical powers, political intrigue and LGBTQIA+ main characters and it sure does look like it and I can’t wait to read it and check it out.

An atmospheric and romantic debut fantasy perfect for fans of Ash and The Winner’s Curse.

Betrothed since childhood to the prince of Mynaria, Princess Dennaleia has always known what her future holds. Her marriage will seal the alliance between Mynaria and her homeland, protecting her people from other hostile kingdoms. But Denna has a secret. She possesses an Affinity for fire—a dangerous gift for the future queen of a land where magic is forbidden.

Now Denna has to learn the ways of her new kingdom while trying to hide her growing magic. To make matters worse, she must learn to ride Mynaria’s formidable warhorses before her coronation—and her teacher is the person who intimidates her most, the prickly and unconventional Princess Amaranthine, sister of her betrothed.

When a shocking assassination leaves the kingdom reeling, Mare and Denna reluctantly join forces to search for the culprit. As the two work together, they discover there is more to one another than they thought—and soon their friendship is threatening to blossom into something more.

But with dangerous conflict brewing that makes the alliance more important than ever, acting on their feelings could be deadly. Forced to choose between their duty and their hearts, Mare and Denna must find a way to save their kingdoms—and each other.

It also came with a note from the author.

Harry Potter Mystery Mini ($7.99) – We love Harry Potter at my house and of course we love blind bags so this one is a double win. My sister is visiting so I let her open ours up and we got Nagini. A bad character but such a cute little mini. I love him and he’s just so stinkin’ cute.

Lord of the Rings Book Pin from Ideal Bookshelf (I don’t see this one in the store but others are $11.00) – I have a large pin collection growing and I’m going to need to find a way to display them. I’m not a huge Lord of the Rings fan but I do love this pin and I will display it proudly.

OwlCrate always sends a pin inspired by the theme. The green in this one is stunning this month.

A Darker Shade of Magic Sticker – while this is more an ad for a book, I love the quote and will have to find a good place to use it.

Game of Thrones Sigil Coasters from Dark Horse Comics ($9.99) – These coasters are nice and thick and while I watch and enjoy Game of Thrones my best friend is obsessed and these are going to get passed on to her. She will love them and oogle them everyday. The designs are really detailed and really crisp. They are so well done.

Narnia Notecard From Susanne Draws – This card is stunning and I can’t wait to mail it out. I’m a huge sender of actual cards and written notes so I love this. I do wish they had sent an envelope for the notecard but I have tons here so not a real issue for me.

Owl Crate really is a fantastic book box for people who love to read. They send a new YA book to me each month and since I always seem to be a bit behind in my new book buying I love getting something that is all the rage at the moment and people are all talking about. I know they select their books months in advance and they always seem to nail it on the hotness of what they pick.  They also always introduce me to some great book product companies that I can shop for all my book nerdy goodies.

Next month’s theme is Classic Remix and the boxes will also include an item from First Edition Tea Co.

What did you think of this month’s amazing Owl Crate theme? Are you ready for next months?
