Globe In is committed to empowering artisans around the world by providing remote artisans with a global distribution network for their goods. With each shipment, you’ll get to learn about the artisans and communities your purchase has helped to support. For those who are interested in receiving a larger curated selection of goods inside a beautiful handmade basket, Globe In also produces an Artisan Box. For those who would prefer to receive one handmade item per month without a woven basket, Globe In has recently started a $10 Club.

Each box arrives beautifully wrapped in tissue paper.

What a fun introduction to a box containing a hand crocheted beanie!

This month’s selections arrived wrapped inside of the hand woven basket.

December 2016’s Benefit basket contained a hand woven palm basket and crocheted hat.

I love these baskets ($12 or 3 for $30)! They are produced by a weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico, specifically for Globe In, using previously discarded palm fronds and water-based paints. Each basket is 6″ in diameter and 5″ tall. When my daughter isn’t running around the house wearing these on her head, I use them to help contain her toys.

This month’s box features a hand crocheted beanie that was produced by artisans in Uganda working for Krochet Kids.

All subscribers received one of two different beanies. Both are very attractive.

I love how Krochet Kids sees the empowerment of women as part of its mission. By employing women in Uganda, Krochet Kids’ employees are able to meet their families’ immediate financial needs. This frees them up to focus more on education and finding their own long-term sustainable career paths.

Through the income she earned working with Krochet Kids, Adong Sunday was able not only to support her brothers and sisters after her parents died but was eventually able to start a grocery store for her local community. “These days, Sunday is known as the ‘rich girl’ in town.”

I love this Lilly Beanie ($30)! It’s incredibly soft, and the styling reminds me of something from India – gorgeous and exotic. I couldn’t be more pleased with it!

I couldn’t be happier with the quality or value of what I’ve received in this month’s Globe In Benefit Basket. I love the global influences in all of Globe In’s boxes each month, and I love that they support small artisans around the world. I can’t wait to see what they send out next month!

Do you subscribe to Globe In’s Benefit Basket? Which beanie did you receive?
