The theme for December 2016’s Artisan Box is Comfort.

My GlobeIn Artisan Box arrived in an attractive GlobeIn signature cardboard box and was wrapped in turquoise tissue paper.

The Comfort box includes a blanket, candles, tea cup and saucer, tea and a palm basket.

I like how Globe In has transitioned from affixing their quotes to the box to including them on a card. The curator clearly puts a lot of thought into the theme each month, and they make for delightful greeting cards.

Along with all of the lovely items in the box, the Artisan Box includes a booklet that gives details about each of the artists responsible for the items in the box.

It’s (finally!) getting cold around here, and these items are sure to warm me and my family up while bringing us closer together.

Made in Karur, India by women partnering with Piece & Company, the woven cotton throw is soft and very attractive.

I love that it’s made from recycled cotton scraps, saving land, water and energy!

The hand painted pyramid candles were produced in Napier, South Africa by women working with Nobunto.

These exotic candles will take pride of place at the center of my family’s dinner table tonight.

The enclosed ceramic cup and saucer were produced from start to finish in Khurja, India, India’s “ceramic city.”

Globe In’s order for these lovely cups provided employment to 50 local artisans working with The Village Experience.

I was very excited to receive Equal Exchange’s Organic Rooibos Tea ($4.50) this month! Produced by small organic tea farmers who adhere to fair trade principles, this tea is helping to advance environmental and social reform within the tea industry.

As someone who can’t drink caffeine, Rooibos was the perfect selection for me! Others may receive Equal Exchange’s Green Tea.

The Comfort box featured GlobeIn’s Signature Palm Baskets ($12 or 3 for $30). Made by a collective of individuals in Oaxaca, Mexico, these are great for storing small toys, bath and beauty products.

They are made from previously discarded palm fronds and water-based paints. Each basket is 6″ in diameter and 5″ tall. I love how Globe In’s commitment to the weavers in Oaxaca has allowed people like Marina and Leobardo to improve their living conditions in tangible ways.

Globe In is raising money for New Story Charity, a group in Haiti that is using local labor and resources to build disaster resistant homes for those who lost their homes to Hurricane Matthew.

I loved this month’s Comfort box! GlobeIn is easily one of my favorite subscriptions, and I look forward to receiving it each month. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next month!
