Comic Bento is a monthly comic book subscription service that delivers graphic novels and comics each month. This is a great value because every month, you’ll receive at least $50 in books.

DEAL: Save 15% on any subscription with coupon code FRIEND15.

Special care is given to each box. To keep the books from jostling about, Comic Bento uses air cushioning and has all books packed together in plastic with cardboard to keep everything straight.

Four books from three different publishers. Comic Bento did well including some nice items to their offering this month.

Comic Bento includes a 2-sided card that gives you some insight into the books they sent. They also give some backstory as to why they chose the books within the subscription box. This month’s theme is “MIGHTY.”

Comic Bento is great at providing variety while sticking to their theme.

Mighty Avengers: Ultron Initiative – Marvel – $14.99. Marvel does “Mighty” better than anyone. I was thinking there would be a Thor book in here since that is the first character I think of when I hear the word “Mighty.“ The book is written by the man that does more Marvel than anyone at the moment, Brian Michael Bendis. The art is by Frank Cho who is an incredible artist.

The wait is over – the Mighty Avengers have assembled! They have been gathered together to be the greatest Avengers team ever, but who picked them – and why? And which A-list Avengers villain returns, revamped and reloaded for the ultimate revenge?

X-O Manowar: By the Sword – Valiant Entertainment – $. X-O Manowar has been a long-standing character within the Valiant universe. This collection is written by one of my favorite writers in comic books today, Robert Venditti. I’m sure this will make for a fantastic read about this mighty character.

  • The beginning of the all-new Valiant Universe starts here! Aric of Dacia is a brash warrior and heir to the throne of the Visigoth people. He has lived his life under the heel of the Roman Empire, but now a far more terrible enemy has come to subjugate him. Taken from his home and family, Aric is enslaved aboard a starship belonging to a brutal race of alien colonizers known as The Vine. If he is to have any hope of escaping and returning to Earth, he will have to steal the Vine’s most powerful weapon — a sentient suit of indestructible armor — and become X-O Manowar!
  • This volume collects the first four issues of the acclaimed, breakout series by New York Times bestselling author Robert Venditti (The Surrogates, The Homeland Directive) and Eisner Award-winning artist Cary Nord (Conan)!

Smite: The Pantheon War – Dark Horse Comics – $9.99. “Mighty” would definitely be a word to use when describing the Mythological Gods and this is a book that has a plethora of them. This is a very interesting take on the gods, as it’s not just the Greeks or Norse versions, they’re all intermingled.

Millions play Hi-Rez Studios’ SMITE–a Massive Online Battle Arena game where gods from any different Pantheons fight it out to determine the fate of both the godly realm, and our own world.

Revealed here is the never before told tale of how the conflict between the gods began–from the assassination of Zeus in Olympus, to the goddess Hel tricking Thor into leading an army against her own father Loki, to the death of Ares and the plunging of the Pantheons into all-out war!

Be a god. Choose a side. Save the world . . . or destroy it!

Millions play the game, and this is the first time the backstory has been told!

Unbelievable Deadpool: Believe It – Marvel – $16.99. Two of the most popular characters as of late are Spider-Gwen and Deadpool. So what does Marvel do? Combine them into one character in a way only Marvel can for a wacky adventure. It’s a series I normally would not pick up but I’m happy to receive it from Comic Bento.

2015’s overnight internet sensation takes center stage in her own series! Gwen Poole used to be a comic book reader just like you…until she woke up in a world where the characters she read about seemed to be real! But that can’t be, right? This must all be fake, or a dream or something, right? And you know what that means…NO CONSEQUENCES! Could Gwenpool truly be Marvel’s least responsible and least role-modely character to date? She can if she tries!

COLLECTING: GWENPOOL, THE UNBELIEVABLE 0-4

Comic Bento is such an awesome value! All four of these books were packaged so well together and arrived in spectacular condition. As stated earlier, there is a theme but there’s also a ton of variety, and the theming of this box is pretty unique amongst comic subscriptions. The curator’s notes really bring the theme together, and that made this box even more awesome!
