BeadCrate is a monthly subscription box for bead enthusiasts. Every month you’ll receive a curated collection of beads, findings, and other goodies to enhance your beading creations! There are three box sizes – Hobbyist ($7.99), Enthusiast ($15.99), and Collector ($35) [prices don’t include shipping] to choose from. This is the Enthusiast Crate!
The beads always come neatly packaged inside individual well-labelled plastic bags inside a cute organza bag. We also have a curator’s note explaining the theme. And this month, it’s all about Silver Bells! So a lot of white, silver, and I hope bells! Also, you can share your creation on their social media for a chance to get a little surprise in next month’s box.
The crate comes with a chart that tells you exactly what you’re getting. This month was worth about $30. Oh, and it came with two chocolates! Strawberry chocolate!
SILVER!!!
5x3mm 1/2 coat silver pinch glass beads. These are quite unique as they are not oval or round. They are definitely pinched! They would be great interspersed with a silver link for a cute chain-type necklace.
12mm Silver Firepolished Faceted Rounds. I will admit, I’m not a big fan of big silver glass beads. But they would be nice on top of a white or silver tassel on a long necklace.
14mm Milky White w/antique silver 1/2 coat faceted coins. I really like the half coating of silver, it gives it a wintery feel to it.
4x2mm Silver Plated Hematite Rectangles. These are soooo tiny and adorable! I had a hard time picking them all up after the picture, but they are soooo cute! The letter from the founder mention something about a silver bracelet being the inspiration behind these beads, I might take it as a “I will do that then!”
ICY WHITES!!!
3mm Firepolish Silver Lined Crystal Faceted rounds. The silver lined looks more yellowish than silver, so I’m thinking of mixing them with some champagne colored beads. (I heard somewhere that maybe January’s box will have some champagne colored beads. You haven’t heard it from me!)
1x5mm Crystal AB Gemstone Donut. I really like these ones. I think they are my favorite in this box. They have an AB coating that gives them nice colors that scream to be mixed with other beads. I might mix them with green and red beads to make a Christmas Inspired wrap bracelet.
4mm Firepolish Crystal AB faceted rounds. Once again, the AB coating gives them oomph. It reminds me of little icicles.
MORE SILVER!!!
9mm Sterling Silver Lobster Claw Clasp. Very useful findings, but it’ll go in my sterling silver stash until I decide what to do with it.
TierraCast Antiqued Silver Plated Bells Charm. Can’t have a Silver Bells theme box without some silver bells!
Oval Ridged Link in Silver Plated Pewter. These mixed with the silver pinched beads would make a nice simple wintery chain-like necklace!
TierraCast Antique Silver Plated Peace Slide. I saw that one on BeadCrate’s Instagram and I fell in love with it. I’m not sure what I want to do with it, maybe a wrapped bracelet, but I’ll do something with it in the future!
Toho 11/0 Black Diamond AB Japanese Glass. Nice seed beads, I’m using them in my project this month. After month’s of being cursed with dropping every single package of seed beads I’ve received in this box, it’s their time to shine!
No Tangle Kuminimo Bobbin.
SOCIAL MEDIA BONUS!!!
This month’s social media bonus were this two lovely Santa buttons! I’m thinking of using them as the button on a wrapped bracelet.
This month, I got inspired by the season AND the chocolate! For the first time ever, no seed beads ended up on my floor before the end of the project! I did it!
This is the first time I actually finished a project with seed beads, and I might not like the results (I would do so many things differently!!!), but it was fun to play with thread and beads instead of my usual wire work!
The Silver Bells theme was spot on for the beginning of the winter season. The day I received this box, there was a storm with snow, wind, and cold. Very cold. So even if this box didn’t bring me warmth, it brought me some ice and bells! I really enjoyed playing with a monochrome box, even if I ended up adding some red for my creation. But that was the fun of this box, it was easy to mix it with my own beads (and beads from previous months!)
What do you think of this month’s BeadCrate box?
