Ann Williams Monthly Craft Box has four age groups to choose from: 6 to 8-year-olds, 9 to 12-year-olds, teens, and adults. This is a review of the TEEN subscription.

Oohh, my teenager has TWO different crafts to choose from! Ann Williams makes their own crafts and promises that no two shipments are ever the same. If you decide you really love a particular craft and maybe want to give one to a friend then you can purchase extras in their online shop. These crafts are also available at your local independent toy or gift shops and at some major retailers such as Target, Jo-Ann Fabric, Michaels, Barnes & Noble, and Nordstrom.

These crafts were packaged in their own brightly colored boxes.

The Craft Crush Thread Bowls Kit ($12.99) has the items needed to make three miniature bowls. My daughter Karina is 13-years old and will be demonstrating how to make this craft.

img_4028.jpg

Everything was secure in its plastic tray.

Those yellow flower-like items are double-sided tape that you lay down on the bowl. The thread colors were bright and beautiful.

img_4032.jpg

The instruction book had full-color pictures and listed the steps.

img_4272.jpg

Karina started by picking a thread color and then attached it to the bottom of the bowl.

img_4275.jpg

She changed thread colors several times to make a colorful bowl.

Here’s the bowl before the glue application…

…and here it is after. Let dry and then give it a couple more coats of glue before removing from the form.

Here’s the finished bowl that now sits on my daughter’s dresser. She said she would like to do the other bowls when she doesn’t have so much homework. This didn’t take very long to complete but plan on drying time between glue coats.

The second box was The Yarn Giraffes Kit ($19.99) and is for ages 8 and up. This one frustrated my 13-year old but she wasn’t following the directions accurately so I passed it along to my 18-year-old.

img_4025.jpg

The instruction booklet was very helpful but Karina skipped from number 3 to number 7 as she was following it all the way across the top.

img_4026.jpg

This one also had 23 steps so plan on a bit more time to complete.

img_4024.jpg

The yarn colors were beautiful and soft, like chenille. Take a look at those itty bitty double-sided pieces of tape. They were hard to separate from the paper backing but luckily we had double sided tape in the house.

Here’s a helpful Youtube video to see how it all goes down.

Here’s Gemma with everything ready to go.

img_4577.jpg

She started by wrapping each leg in yarn.

img_4582.jpg

Next, she wrapped the body.

img_4583.jpg

Finally, she attached the tail and fringed the mane. This took my 18-year old college student a couple of hours to finish and frustrated my very capable 13-year old. I’m having a hard time imagining an 8-year-old working on this unless they are very craft-minded or you need to keep them busy on a weekend while you binge watch Netflix.

Here’s the completed giraffe, which Gemma named “Gerry.” Maybe she’ll take him to her dorm to hold bracelets.

img_4586.jpg

Here’s both of the completed projects! My girls liked the crafts but I think the giraffe is suitable for older teens or adults since the instructions are long and the tape was frustrating to use. This subscription is great if you have a crafty kid or just want to get them away from their iPhones for a while. It would also make a nice gift for the holidays or a birthday or just because!

What do you think of these crafts? Would your teenager enjoy doing these projects?
