The GlobeIn Artisan Box is a subscription that sends 4-5 handcrafted products from around the world that are curated around a theme to your home each month. In addition, each monthly shipment includes a gorgeous handmade basket (or, on occasion, a basket alternative if indicated in your preferences). All items are produced either by collectives that are fair trade certified or that respect and adhere to fair trade principles. All artisans and farmers whose products are distributed by GlobeIn are paid a fair wage for their products.

GlobeIn is committed to empowering artisans around the world by providing them with a global distribution network for their goods. With each shipment, you’ll get to learn about the artisans and communities your purchase has helped to support.

Subscriptions cost $40/month, but the price can go as low as $35/month with a longer subscription. For those who are interested in receiving one handmade product inside a beautiful handmade basket for $19.95 each month, GlobeIn offers a Benefit Box. Their newest subscription, the GlobeIn Club, features one fairly traded item for $10 each month.

The theme for November 2016’s Artisan Box is Giving. I love how this month, the curators chose to include this lovely quote by Picasso on a card that can be used to send a gift to a loved one. How perfect!

My GlobeIn Artisan Box arrived in an attractive GlobeIn signature cardboard box and was wrapped in turquoise tissue paper and sealed with a sticker.

The Giving box included a serving bowl, handmade cards, a set of nesting boxes and either a signature palm leaf basket or a sauce bowl. All fragile pieces arrived intact thanks in no small part to the care GlobeIn took in wrapping the pieces up in bubble wrap before shipment.

It’s no secret that I’ve really been enjoying my GlobeIn subscription lately. I’ve loved the emphasis of late on food and gathering around a table for sharing and celebrating. I love how this month’s Giving box continued this theme.

img_2466

Along with all of the lovely items in the box, each month the Artisan Box includes a booklet that gives details about each of the artists responsible for the items in the box.

I love how the introductory note reinforces the good that GlobeIn is able to accomplish in the world through the support of its subscribers. This is a box to feel good about!

The Malika patterned ceramic serving dish is gorgeous. I love its colors and details! Produced by hand in Tunisia at Le Souk Ceramique, this lovely dish is 9.5 inches in diameter and relatively shallow, so it could easily double as an individual pasta bowl if desired (you may want to order a couple of extras). In fact, Le Souk markets it as an individual pasta or salad bowl.

Through his work with Le Souk, Mohamed Ali, one of the workers who helped produce this piece of art, has been able to save up enough money to return to his family’s farm and help the rest of his family cultivate their land.

These soft nesting boxes from Craft Boat and Trible Alive in India are covered in handmade cotton paper.

img_2464

Reminiscent of the coasters in October’s Gather box, I look forward to using these boxes to help store some of the clutter in my bedroom.

These unique cards and envelopes are also made by Craft Boat and Tribe Alive in India from recycled cotton pulp.

Housed in an attractive coordinating box, these cards will make for unique thank you notes once holiday celebrations have come to an end.

This month, GlobeIn offered a pretty ceramic sauce dish as an alternative to their signature palm basket for those who were interested.

img_2475

Produced in Tunisia by Le Souk Ceramique, this attractive sauce dish in the Malika pattern is almost 4 inches on all sides and coordinates perfectly with the serving bowl/pasta bowl/salad bowl in this month’s shipment.

Those who didn’t select the sauce bowl received GlobeIn Baskets ($12 or 3 for $30) instead (the default). Made by a collective of individuals in Oaxaca, Mexico, these are great for storing small toys, bath and beauty products. They are made from previously discarded palm fronds and water-based paints. Each basket is 6″ in diameter and 5″ tall.

The Giving book concluded with helpful tips on international aid.

I loved this month’s Giving box! GlobeIn is easily one of my favorite subscriptions, and I look forward to receiving it each month. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next month!
