Birchbox is a beauty sample subscription box with 5 new items to test out each month. Birchbox is $10 a month and you can choose a monthly sample during selection time, let Birchbox decide, or pick a pre-curated box.

Whether you’re arranging flowers for a family gathering or trying out new ways to style your infinity scarf, this month is all about those extra, just-because details. The products in this month’s curated box help make that final difference: From a creamy, glides-right-on eyeliner and customer-favorite volumizing mascara, to a super-softening hair balm and a perfume that’s barely a perfume at all, we’ve got you covered with little extras that make a big impact.

Every month you can select between a sample choice to get a box tailored to your profile, or a pre-curated box. This is the curated Finishing Touch Curated Box! Current subscribers can buy this exact box for $10, which is still available.

The information card gives brief details on each item. You can visit Birchbox.com/MyBox to easily see the details of your box, which I recommend because sometimes they have videos on the item product pages which I find useful.

Everything in the November Finishing Touch Box!

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara ($8) I don’t get a huge amount of length with this mascara, but it seems to provide a lot more fullness to my lashes, so I like it, and the brush is easy to use. Mascara is absolutely the finishing touch – this was a nice centerpiece item for this box!

Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume ($3.60) Well this sure is interesting. It’s so pure that it’s “pur” (that’s how it’s described). This single ingredient perfume is made out of Cetalox. It’s allergen free, usually a back note, and synthetic ambergris. It’s also sort of boring. I think this is more interesting to experiment adding under other scents to mix them up a bit.

However, it’s a great pick if you want to be allergy conscious or work in tight spaces!

Number 4 Jour d’Automne Smoothing Balm ($5.88) This hair smoother is perfect to top off your look, and works on wet or dry hair. (It says damp, I tried it on dry!) It just smooths everything up for a finished look plus it makes it super soft. I love Number 4 and I hadn’t sampled this product yet, so this is really nice to add to my regimen.

Balance Me Tinted Wonder Eye Cream ($11) This is heavily tinted, somewhat like an orangey foundation, and is filled with light-reflecting particles plus cucumber seed and rosehip oils to brighten and soothe, plus hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump! The tint to this product worked well for my skin tone and I could definitely pull off a no-makeup look with just this one (my circles are terrible!).

ARDENCY INN MODSTER Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner ($14) This formula is nice and creamy and is a great standard eyeliner – except that it completely stays put! It’s fantastic, plus it’s over half the full-size! I wish it had been gold though – I think of a black eyeliner as a foundation, rather than a finishing touch!

The value of this box was about $42, which is a great value, but I didn’t think Birchbox really brought this theme home (I get really hung up on the theme!).  To me this wasn’t about “extra just-because details” – this box was strictly basics!

What do you think of the October Birchbox curated box?
