TokyoTreat is a Japanese treat box that is shipped directly from Japan. TokyoTreat has three levels of boxes, which seems to be the norm with snack boxes. Shipping is included with the boxes ($14.99 for mini, $24.99 for regular, $34.99 for premium). This is the premium box.
TokyoTreat has had a pretty big overhaul since I was subbed last year; the outer box is a cheerful orange, and the product information card is now a mini magazine containing not only translated descriptions of the included items, but also instructions for the DIY candy kits, a welcome/introduction letter, and some content about Japan. You can see the three levels of the box ranging from the smallest to the premium box.
Most of the popular snack boxes have this sort of tiered system with three levels of size! Normally I take pictures randomly but this month I’m going to go through each level to give you a better idea of what’s included!
Starting with the small box!
Chocolate Umaibo: I looooove umaibo, but I am used to seeing them in the long roll form. These chocolate umaibo are in smaller pieces but are still really tasty!
Mystery YumeTwins Item: YumeTwins is a kawaii box run by the same group that does TokyoTreat and this month they are featuring a mystery item! I got a colourful beaded bracelet.
Super Sour Lemon Gum: WOW, they are not kidding – this gum is very sour and lemony.
Moguchuu Strawberry Soft Candy: This candy reminds me a lot of taffy, it’s not too firm and not too soft.
Yakisoba Sauce Flavoured Corn Puffs: This big bag is full of corn puff snacks seasoned with savoury yakisoba. It’s salty and delicious and I polished off the box in seconds.
Pakkuchu Disney Cookies: I just got back from Disneyland so seeing Mickey again this soon made me smile! These cookies are similar to Koala’s March – they have Mickey and other Disney characters on the outside biscuit and chocolate inside.
The regular box includes all of the above, plus:
Soft Candy DIY Kit: Use this kit to dip soft taffy like “ice cream” bars into powdered sugar!
Corn Potage Snack: I am not a huge corn fan (unless it’s umaibo) but these snacks are not too bad! They taste exactly like corn, which is kind of weird.
Maple Butter Beer Ramen: Haha, I love that this is clearly a Harry Potter homage – and having tasted butterbeer for the first time yesterday at Hogsmeade, these come pretty close!
Sour Plum Pretzel Sticks: These pretzels are flavoured with sour plum, or umeboshi. The salty sour combo is really nice!
Kuppy Ramune: What makes these ramune candies interesting is that they are marketed specifically as candies lacking the common allergens such as egg, milk, wheat, buckwheat, peanut, shrimp, and crab. They are fruity and delicious, and very stomach friendly if you have an allergy!
And finally, the premium box, which includes everything in the small and regular, plus:
Pokemon Fruit Jelly: Subscribers received either this Pokemon fruit jelly or a limited edition Mirai Suenaga x TokyoTreat jelly. I’m happy with the Pokemon jelly! You can also freeze these for an extra chill during summer.
Pokemon Egg: Again, subscribers could receive this or another limited edition Mirai Suenaga item. This chocolate egg reminds me of Kinder Surprise – I’m going to pass this on to a Pokemon-loving friend of mine to enjoy.
Pokemon Monster Figurine: And yes, yet another variation item! I’m glad to receive this instead of the Chip Star Savoury Shrimp Chips, that’s for sure!
Aloe White Grape Juice: The last variation item in the box – this white grape juice has chunks of aloe in it, which has lots of health benefits.
Crazy Cola Bubble Ramune Candy: These are fun! They are tablets that, when you bite down on them, start bubbling and foaming up like an alka-seltzer tablet.
It was great to review TokyoTreat again! It’s a solid Japanese snack box, with a great assortment of savoury, sweet, a beverage, and a DIY kit. There’s also the non-snack items that sneak in sometimes for extra enjoyment, like the Pokemon figurine and the kawaii bracelet!
