Beauteque offers two subscriptions featuring Asian beauty products delivered to your door monthly. Products include makeup, skin care, body care, and more. For $22 per month, your BB Bag comes with 6-8 full-size products. If you like masks, the Mask Maven subscription brings you 9-11 various masks monthly starting at $14. The following is a review of the September 2016 BB Bag.
K BEAUTY MUST -HAVES: Essentials Every K-Beauty Addict Needs. This month’s theme has me on the edge of my seat.
The fold out card has information on each of the products and basic how-to-use directions. Pricing for products varied across sites. The prices listed below are those of Beauteque, unless otherwise noted.
Waves? Trippy zebra? I don’t know what the inspiration for the bag is, but I like it. And caviar sounds so luxe!
My September Beauteque BB Bag!
Esfolio Black Caviar Eye Patch ($28.00): Caviar is balanced with pearl powder to brighten and tighten skin in the under-eye area. The essence also provides nourishment and moisture to the delicate skin. Use the provided spoon to remove patches from the jar, apply under eyes, and relax while this goes to work. These felt cool when first applied, may have been my A/C. They are very slippery to the touch, and I had to restrict my movement. I did notice that this helped to reduce my dark circles.
Annie’s Way Jelly Mask – Aloe and Q10 ($3.99 each): These are jelly wash-off masks. Each packet contains enough product for at least 2 applications. The aloe formula is geared towards acne-prone skin. In addition to aloe, it also has seaweed extracts to help soothe skin and balance oil. Co-Q10 is similar to Vitamin E and has been shown to improve the signs of aging in skin. This, plus the sodium hyaluronate, give the Q10 mask a large dose of hydrating power. Tip: Place these in the fridge for 10 minutes before using for a cooling effect.
Dual-Ended Eye Brush ($5.00): Use one end of this brush to apply eye shadow and the other to fill in sparse brows. I haven’t tried the brow end yet, but the shadow side applies shadow with good coverage.
Yadah Auto Lip Crayon – 01 Dazzling Red ($6.99): This is a bright red with orange undertones. The formula is very creamy and made with avocado oil, macadamia oil, and rose hips. I found 7 colors in this collection, and there were a couple that I think would have better with my skin tone. Sadly, this shade will be passed on.
Swatch of Dazzling Red.
Milky Dress Oasis Peeling Gel ($15.00): This is listed at $18.99 on the Beauteque site. The directions for this weren’t very clear. From what I can tell, a thin layer should be applied to the skin and massaged. As you massage, the gel will remove impurities and exfoliate. I didn’t like the scent of this gel and didn’t notice much of difference in my skin after using it. I wish I had been one of the subscribers that received the Secret Key Lemon D-TOC Peeling Gel.
Deoproce Power Curling Mascara ($8.99): I couldn’t find this exact mascara formula online. This high-powered formula is supposed to lift, curl, and enhance your lashes without clumping or flaking. The half moon shaped wand is designed to reach even the shortest of lashes. I am always looking for something to help out my barely-there lashes and was excited to try this. I definitely noticed a difference! The formula was long-lasting and lived up to its no clumping/flaking claims too.
Bare lashes (left) and with mascara (right). WOW!
September BB Bag: And don’t forget this month’s bag! The textured vinyl looks like beading and the blue/white pattern is so cute. The bag looks small, but it has plenty of room for brushes or toiletries.
I had to try out the black caviar eye patches. I think they make me look like a linebacker. LOL!!! My face is shiny because I put on the Milky Dress Oasis Peeling Gel towards the end of my time with the eye patches.
This month’s Beauteque BB Bag contained $72 worth of product using the prices listed by Beauteque! I don’t know if I’d agree that these were all K-beauty essentials. I could see a good cleanser or face cream being an essential instead of a mask. What do you consider your beauty essentials? I’d love to hear your thoughts. On a side note: Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site). Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. As a person of color, I have not seen my skin color change. Instead, I’ve experienced that my skin tone gets evened out after prolonged use. However, your results may be different. And lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
