People’s Choice Beef Jerky Review + Coupon

People’s Choice Beef Jerky offers curated jerky – you can make a one-time purchase or sign up to receive weekly or monthly shipments of handmade, small batch jerky delivered straight to your door.  You can personalize your box choice based on amount (3 to 11 bags of jerky) and flavor (simple, sweet, hot, and everything); boxes start at $18.

People’s Choice Beef Jerky uses whole cuts of extra-lean USDA beef to make this awesome high protein snack food.  Many of the products are gluten-free, all natural, and include no additives, no preservatives, and no MSG.  (See the People’s Choice Beef Jerky website for details about specific products.)

Here’s what I saw when I opened up the box.

I am reviewing the “One-of-Everything” box.  This box comes with 11 different bags of jerky.  As the People’s Choice Beef Jerky website explains:  “The One-of-Everything box guides you through our jerky family. The box features products from the fan-favorite Classic line, tried & true Old Fashioned line, savory Carne Seca line, and delicious new Tasting Kitchen flavors.”  YUM!

Classic Jerky:  The classic line of People’s Choice Beef Jerky is exactly what you’d expect – beef jerky in three common flavors (original, teriyaki, and hot & spicy).  But unlike many common jerky snacks, this beef jerky is made with really good quality meat.  Think dried steak, not shoe leather!  The jerky is super tender and very tasty.  I liked all three, although my favorite is the original.

Old Fashioned Jerky:  People’s Choice Beef Jerky makes their old fashioned line of jerky using an old family recipe, all natural ingredients, and a simplified process.  I really liked the old fashioned jerky…the beef (again, really good quality) shines through.  I usually love all things spicy (and I do like the hot & spicy variety of the old fashioned line), but I have to say the original variety is again my favorite.  Seriously – the meat flavor is so good.

Carne Seca:  Carne seca (“dried meat”) is a Mexican style beef jerky.  People’s Choice Beef Jerky was “inspired by the diverse culinary tradition of Downtown Los Angeles.”  The carne seca focused on bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and simple techniques.  The texture of the carne seca is different than the other beef jerky – a little drier- and the salt level is noticeably higher.  But the citrus tang is super interesting and I really enjoyed both the limon variety and the limon con chile, which adds a bit of heat to the taste.  I am glad I was introduced to this new-to-me snack.

Tasting Kitchen:  The Tasting Kitchen line of People’s Choice Beef Jerky offers “limited-edition, small batch flavors” that change every few months.  The goal is to celebrate new ingredients while remaining true to their tradition.  There were four different Tasting Kitchen bags in my box – garlic ginger, sriracha, sweet chili habanero, and orange honey teriyaki.

(There doesn’t seem to be any difference between the black bag and the clear bag…both types appear on the People’s Choice Beef Jerky website under the Tasting Kitchen line.)  I enjoyed all four flavors – they were different enough from each other to give a great variety.  My favorite is probably the garlic ginger – because who doesn’t love garlic – but I also totally ate up the sweet chili habanero…sweet and spicy goodness.  The Tasting Kitchen jerky is also made with good quality beef – tender and tasty.  These four flavors were so good, I can’t wait to see what People’s Choice comes up with next.

Machaca:  This product was something totally new for me – dried, shredded beef!  I was happy that People’s Choice Beef Jerky provided some hints on what to do with it (excellent in eggs!) as well as included a recipe card, see below.  I tried this on its own – tasty but messy!  I did like it a lot in scrambled eggs – yum!  And I can totally imagine that the recipe using machaca is amazing.

In addition to the bags of jerky, People’s Choice Beef Jerky included a recipe card for this amazing looking Mexican breakfast scramble.  The photo on the cover of the recipe card is enough to make my mouth water…I plan on trying it out as soon as I get all the ingredients.

I really loved this box of jerky from People’s Choice Beef Jerky.  The “One-of-Everything” box provides great variety and I really enjoyed each of the different lines and flavors of jerky.  If you love jerky (or even just like it), you’ll love this box!
