Nerdy Post is a subscription that sends original, hand lettered stationery, posters, prints, stickers, and other paper ephemera around a different theme each month! Not into that month’s fandom? You can easily skip your shipment – I love when boxes allow for this feature since fandom subscriptions can be tricky. Nerdy Post ships in a tube, and the first box I received from them was slightly damaged due to being sent on to me through a third party. Alexis from Nerdy Post reached out to us to fix the issue, and graciously sent me the August box when she found out I was a huge Doctor Who fan! I’ve been a fan of the show since before it made its way to North America – back then we had to torrent it or watch low-resolution live streams of BBC channels.
NOTE: This box no longer ships in a tube – check out the October review for details!
This time around, everything was perfectly packaged and ready to go!
Instructions for restoring your rolled up print to its flattened state are included – you can reverse roll using the mailing tube itself, or use a stack of heavy books.
On the other side is the product information where Alexis talks about why she chose certain quotes or imagery.
I used the elastic method. It worked pretty well, but I found the edges started to curl up again so I rolled it again on the tube and this time left the elastic on overnight.
The print itself features a quote from my favourite Doctor, the Eleventh Doctor as portrayed by Matt Smith, from the two-parter episode “The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People” in Series 6! I love the Gallifreyan design in the background as well.
Books! The best weapons in the world! This bookmark features the perfect quote by the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, from the Series 4 two-parter “Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead” (which introduced my favourite character, Professor River Song).
The reverse is a quote by the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, from the episode “Listen” on the reverse.
Another Nerdy Postcard! This one features the Doctor’s ship, the TARDIS (that stands for Time And Relative Dimensions in Space). The lettering is filled with a pattern of the 9th Doctor’s gas mask from “The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances” (Series 1), the 10th Doctor’s 3D glasses, the 11th Doctor’s bow tie (Bow ties are cool!) and the 12th Doctor’s Sonic specs. I love these postcards because you can colour them before you mail them, or leave them pristine for the recipient to colour themselves!
This sticker is amazing and gives me all the feels. The quote is the last line spoken by Christopher Eccleston’s 9th Doctor right before he regenerates into the 10th Doctor at the end of Series 1. (The Doctor doesn’t die he just regenerates… ♫) And the text is in the shape of the TARDIS as well. Nine doesn’t get enough love among the reboot Doctors, usually because he only had one series, but he is the one that started it all and I adore him.
There were four variations of the pin that could have been sent out – I chose the 11th Doctor because he’s my favourite. This pin is such a cute illustration, and they nailed his floppy hair!
The magnet features a quote by the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker. If you couldn’t recognise the quote, the pattern of the text should be a giveaway – it’s the familiar pattern of his crazy scarf!
And who doesn’t recognise the infamous TARDIS diary that the Eleventh Doctor gave to River Song at the end of “Let’s Kill Hitler”? Mine isn’t full of their adventures like hers is, but it will be someday! The quote on the front is the Eleventh Doctor saying goodbye to Amelia Pond at the end of “The Big Bang”, one of my favourite episodes of Series 5.
I loved everything in this Doctor Who edition of Nerdy Post! All of the quotes were perfect, and it was nice to see a nod to the classic series as well as the reboot. I’m really happy with everything I was sent, and while I still need to get the hang of how to flatten the posters and other items, everything arrived in perfect condition. Geronimo!
