Loot Crate DX is a monthly subscription box from Loot Crate. It’s themed with the regular Loot Crate spoilers, except it contains premium next level loot for discerning geeks! It’s like a special edition box from Loot Crate – every month!
THE THING! The bottom of the box says “If I was an imitation, a perfect imitation, how would you know if it was really me?”
The box comes with a tri-fold booklet with information about Loot Crate’s community features on the back. Check out the theme experience hub here.
HORROR was the theme for the October box!
The information card gives you a list of all the items in the box. It’s super sturdy and some parts were highlighted with a nice gloss.
A box of horrifying loot!
Loot Crate DX Monthly Pin: It’s Pinhead!! I don’t love the photoreal pins as much as the enamel ones, but where else are you going to pick up a Hellraiser pin??
Evil Dead II Variant Art Print: My hand… is a chain saw. I am not crazy about the prints in the DX box, except for the Deadpool one. They just aren’t epic and they need to be. Don’t get me wrong – I love Bruce Campbell – I just like prints like these to be witty or amazing. And why is an annual subscriber who bought this box on the first day getting such a low print number?
This horror and exploitation film fan mag was included as a bonus. I think it was a great tie-in for the likely very many subscribers who came to DX just for this box! I passed my copy onto my cousin, who especially digs this style of film.
John Carpenter’s The Thing Statuette
The box describes Bottin’s Monster.
I wish they had done this exact form factor, but some other gimmick (I am not sure what – what is your favorite USB toy?). Maybe a night light?
This mug is absolutely gigantic, and it’s because there is an actual zombie inside!
This sweatshirt is the highlight of the box! It’s a mashup between SCREAM and the instantly recognizable Edvard Munch painting The Scream. I wore it the next day after getting this box and all I heard all day long was “OMG that’s an awesome shirt!” It’s subtle and perfectly done.
DX pulled off the horror theme perfectly – but that doesn’t mean that I personally liked it, because I’m just not a horror fan. What I did like is that the box was curated for horror fans, and I know that Evil Dead fans were particularly excited about this box. The collectibles were top notch and the sweatshirt was everything! I’m really psyched about the November theme – MAGICAL – because that’s way more my fandom style!
