Lip Monthly is a monthly makeup subscription that is all about your lips. Every month you will receive a unique bag of 4-5 items mostly for lips, although other cosmetics may appear from time to time. Last month it was announced that Lip Monthly would be introducing customisation options, but there seems to be some confusion about how it works. Subscribers before September 20th are prompted to log in to the “old” Lip Monthly website, while new subscribers have the new version of the website, featuring customisation options (from the 1st to 5th of the month) — at this time it’s not clear if everyone will eventually be moved over to the new website. I didn’t get to customise my bag for October, so this is what was chosen for me.
This review is of the October bag.
FYI for International Subscribers:
Due to an increase in international shipping rates, we’ll be implementing a monthly charge of $3.99 to international packages. This charge will also allow you to fully track your bag up to its arrival to your home. As usual, your payment is scheduled for the 1st of November. The new charge will be of $16.94 USD.
Please note that we are currently only accepting new subscribers from the US, Canada, Australia, Spain and GB. If you’re from outside these countries and decide to unsubscribe, you won’t be able to join again. If you continue your subscription, we’ll be sending your bags permanently.
This month’s bag included four items for a value of $55
Be A Bombshell Lipstick in “Charmed” ($6) I’m not charmed by this colour! This will be gifted.
Dirty Little Secret Highlighter in “Sunkist” ($14) I wasn’t too excited by this highlighter; I reach for cool/pink toned highlighters. This is a baked format which always applies nicely with a duo-fiber brush.
Cargo Lipgloss in “Rio” ($16) This bag is making me sad – none of the colours are appealing to me! It happens, though. This lipgloss is probably better suited for summer than winter! (This is going into my little sister’s stocking this year.)
La Ritzy Lip Pencil in “Brick” ($18) This, at least, I will probably use now that I’m wearing more darker shades for fall.
Well, this is my first time not loving my Lip Monthly bag, and I guess that’s not bad given it’s my 4th bag from them. The lip liner made up for the price of the bag altogether, so it’s still a great bargain – and I have some fab Christmas stocking stuffers in hand now. I’m a bit disappointed that Lip Monthly was hyping up customisation options (which would have made my bag definitely more enjoyable based on products other reviewers received!) yet there was no communication sent to subscribers explaining how things would work.
