My Lemon Crate is an essential oil monthly subscription box. In each box, they send everything needed to make 3-5 complete theme-based recipes (e.g., health and beauty products, items for around the home, etc.) each month. The boxes cost $29/month. Let’s see what’s inside!

On the inside of the box, there is a placard that introduces the theme and lists the included projects. This month’s theme is Freshen Up Fall. The projects are “alternatives for personal care items,” like foot powder and face mist. Although these projects sound great, My Lemon Crate also provides alternate projects in case these don’t suit you. Whether for the listed projects or the alternate uses for the ingredients, My Lemon Crate provides instructions on Pinterest, Youtube, and by email to subscribers. These instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Here’s a look at everything in the box. I love that My Lemon Crate projects are labeled with both what the item is and what project it is used for.

Inside the little muslin bag is a collection of essential oils to use in the projects. My Lemon Crate sends all the premium natural ingredients and the containers you need to make the projects. Although the box contains everything necessary to make each of the projects, the recipes give ingredient detail amounts so you can make and remake the projects after the supplied materials are used up. Let’s check out this month’s projects!

Hydrating Face Mist: This is the first essential oil project I’ve made that had tea as an ingredient. Although this project had the extra step of steeping the tea, it was otherwise very simple – just mixing the cooled tea with the neroli hydrosol and the elemi oil in the provided spray bottle. Green tea has antioxidants, and elemi reduces facial lines and wrinkles. The scents from the neroli hydrosol and the elemi are lovely, and the finished face mist is refreshing, yet calming.

Stubble Softener: This project was super simple – simply combine the Australian blue oil with the jojoba in the bottle. The stubble softener can either be used pre-shave to reduce friction while shaving or used as a conditioner for beards. I haven’t had a chance to use this project yet (or more accurately, have my husband test it out). I will say, however, the Australian blue essential oil blend has a very pleasant woodsy, masculine scent and I think he’ll really like it.

Tension Headache Roll-on: I do suffer from tension headaches (hey, I’m a busy working mom – of course I’m tense!) so I was definitely interested in a natural solution. This was another simple project – simply mixing the essential oils with the carrier oil. To use this product, you apply the project to the temples or base of the neck at the earliest signs of a tension headache. Thankfully, I haven’t had a headache in the last week, so I haven’t had the chance to test this out either – but I’m looking forward to doing so. I’m always looking at a natural way to try to ease these headaches and hope this project works for me!

Deodorizing Foot Powder: Another easy-to-make project. Here, I just had to put the baking soda, cornstarch, and mountain savory essential oil into the shaker bottle and mix well. The project can either be sprinkled in shoes to reduce odor or applied to clean feet to absorb moisture and prevent odors. With two active & sporty teenage daughters (not to mention myself and my husband – we both run and bike), it is great to have a powder like this to get rid of some of the sneaker stink that exists in our house. In addition to smelling nice, mountain savory has antibacterial/antifungal/antiparasitic properties to help keep the stinkies at bay. We are loving this foot powder and plan to keep making it, thanks to the ingredient details provided that allow me to remake the projects!

My Lemon Crate boxes are a lot of fun. The projects are things that I will totally use, but are super simple to make. This is great, especially for essential oil newbies like me. The instructions are clear and describe the essential oils and their properties. Each box has everything necessary to do the project – both ingredients and storage/use containers. And finally, the instructions give hints on how to redo the project later with my own supplies as well as how to make other projects with the ingredients if one is not to your liking. Finally, I am happy with the variety of projects – from cosmetics to household cleaning supplies to personal care items.
